I bought this for my 3 year old daughter. She likes to play baseball. There are so many good things about this product. I like that you can adjust the height because she is small. The sound effects are great and she loves that she can play without anyone else if she has to. You really need to play with this outdoors. The best money I have spent in toys r us thus far.

My brother's daughter got this a while back and absolutely loved it, as did my son. To my knowledge, they had no problems with it, but when my son got it we definitely did. The piece of velcro on the mechanical arm was so strong, that my son could never detach the balls from the velcro. And when we would pull the balls off, to help a little, the velcro would come completely off the arm. So I kept having to take apart the end of the arm and put the velcro back on. I've never heard of anyone else having the problem, but we did. So of course before too long, my son learned to pull off the balls himself and we completely lost the velcro for the mechanical arm. Good news is that the replacement parts are only $5 [...]. Hopefully the replacement parts will work better. Word to the wise, inspect yours and use it a couple days before letting your kids run wild with it. Also note that this product does seem to be a little fragile, due to the mechanical nature of the product. I would only let kids use it while supervised or it will probably break fast. Despite all this, it really is a fun product and I would recommend it to someone who doesn't mind being involved in their kids playtime. The kids really get a kick out of all the noise it makes!

This was sent to my Grandson -- I have reported what the kids told me. They use it for long periods of time, perfecting their swing. We have no negative comments on the product.

This baseball batting "game" is great! It keeps my grandchildren active whether swinging or chasing the ball. But where can you get refills for the special "sticky" balls? He has hit them out of his condo area where we can't get them.

This takes 3-C batteries to work, please keep that in mind for gifting! :)

It comes with about 12 tiny screws to attach the black base, the rest simply slides and locks into place. Very simple to put together. Instructions are easy to follow but pretty self explanatory.

The sound is clear, a good variety between crowd cheers, announcer calls, the familiar organ... and a delayed crack of a bat! Not too loud either.

My complaint:

IT IS around 2-3 notches too short for the age group it is intended for. My twins just turned 5 and are of average height and this is way too short on the highest adjustable setting. They have to lean down and swing low or they will end up whacking the black swingarm holding the ball. I happened to have a good wire ottoman stand that is the perfect height for sitting the unit on, the unit is very well balanced and quite sturdy. So if your little ball player is around 40" or taller, plan on using a stool, chair or something to stand it on.

There are tons of complaints about that black swingarm, but please know it is not permanently attached. If it were, after a few accidental miss-swings it would be cracked and broken. It just slides back into place and my 5yr olds have learned how to easily pop it back on.

I wish the swing arm held a bit further away from the unit as it is easy to accidentally whack the red ball cage. But even after a few hard whacks, it has held up quite well. This is very well made.

NO problems with the ball cage loading or the velcro being too strong. We have a tennis ball that we toss in LAST and if it is the only one left in the cage, it will pick it up all the same.

I like the on/off switch. The bat stands on the base when not in use.

Teaches good technique. A good introduction to baseball.

We have used sidewalk chalk to outline a generous batter's box (to avoid accidental walking in the line of a swing), and a square for the kids to know where to stand without being too close.

Plus visit a dollar store for those tennis ball and velcro glove kits - those go nicely with this as the kids like to scoop up the balls that way and peel them off to reload them. The kids end up taking turns nicely this way - they know that whomever fetches the balls gets to bat next!

NOT flimsy - no too loud. Durable.

Just a bit short.

I have two granddaughters, 4 & 6yrs old who love to bat a ball around. They absolutely love this item and are so proud when they "crack the ball". Since daddy is a baseball fan, it is good the girls are interested and this is getting them great practice.
