Those other reviews really surprised me - this movie is excellent in every way. It's just more modern. Granted he doesn't fight other monsters, but the movie is based on something more realistic - like something that actually could happen (follow the plot). I've watched it 50 times or more and my 6yr old loves it too. The plot and special effects ARE awesome, despite what you read above. A truly great movie experience.

This product is not a very great movie.
It is Horrible! It Doesn't have any godzilla. Why is this monster instead of Godzilla?!!? And why is it so much weaker?!?!

This movie has absolutley NOTHING to do with Godzilla at all. And even they switched the lizard with Godzilla, this movie would still be bad. It's a mix of Jurassic Park, some Godzilla-Inspired scences, and bad acting. Unless you're completing your Godzilla DVD collection, I do not recommend this.

This movie was horrible. I'ts bad enough that it is NOT godzilla, but why did they call it godzilla if it is not him? and the slogan "size doe's matter" if size does matter why is he so much smaller and weaker then the original godzilla? The one thing that drives me phychotic is that the military actually shoots him down! doesent Toho know that almost all forms of human weaponary godzilla is invulnerable to. My conclusion is that this movie relates more to jurasic park than to godzilla however at the end there was an egg leftover seting up for a sequel that never happened.

For, the moderate Godzilla fans. All that was missing from this movie was the ability to fly using a hormone from radioation mutation, and they would have made an actual movie of Varan, a giant Iguana who made its first appearance in the novel Godzilla 2000 to my knowledge.
The producers would have been better off using DNA cloning creating a Stegosaur and T-Rex DNA which got mutated in the movie, but movie producers love to try shaking the fans loose by going elsewhere with their beloved series. The only movie series that rivals Godzilla is James Bond.

The Godzilla 1998 movie was a total disgrace! These two morons Rolland Emmerich and Dean Devlin tried to rip the heart and soul of Godzilla and made him into a stupid excuse of an iguana. If you couldn't take the ending grab a barf bag and pop Godzilla, king of the monsters! into the dvd player and see who the real godzilla is.

This movie has an odd title, as it doesn't actually contain Godzilla at all. It revolves around a giant grey lizard that destroys everything in sight. This new monster, dubbed Zilla, does not fight any other monsters during the movie. This movie could be viewd by younger children, but as usual they wouldn't understand what is going on. It does contain some gore though. They just like to see a giant monster break stuff. And really, who doesn't?
