Product Description

CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

What's GNU? The three-letter-word race game from ThinkFun that spells F-U-N! The object of the game is to spell more three-letter words than the other players. Up to 36 Word-Starter cards, which have one letter provided and two blanks, are spread out for everyone to see. Players slide the clever Letter Getter to magically reveal two letter tiles. Kids then must look at these tiles and try to make three-letter words by filling in the blanks on the Word-Starter cards. The player with the most three-letter words when all the tiles run out wins! Building your vocabulary is three times more fun with What's GNU?

Comments about ThinkFun What's GNU? Game:

We were looking for a game to help our 6 yr old granddaughter with spelling and word/letter sounds. This is the perfect game. We gave it to her for Christmas and we have played it every day since. It also helps in learning new things, ex. I spelled BOG and we then had a discussion as to what a bog was. I'd recommend this game to anyone who might be struggling a bit with spelling and word sounds, it definitely strengthens their skills in a fun way.

Comments about ThinkFun What's GNU? Game:

This is a fun game and easy to play. I think it really depends on how quickly your child learns & what level they're at when you purchase this game, but I think my daughter may outgrow this pretty quickly. It has two levels of play, so that's good. Unlike kid games like Candy Land where there isn't any skill, this game is all spelling ability and speed so adults really have to LET younger children beat them in order for the child to have any fun or ever spell a word. I think older children who could be fairly competitive at this game would probably be bored with it. Aside from that though, my daughter enjoys playing it. It's a good game but has some flaws.

My son recieved it as a b'day present and he loved it. Granted he just turned five so he cannot read or create sentences perfectly but it is a great learning game that we all play together.
We then bought the game for a classmate of his for a b'day party.

Comments about ThinkFun What's GNU? Game:

We bought this for our 6 year old son who is in kindergarten. He is very very smart infact doing 1st grade work and this was way above his ability.
We altered the directions to make it easier to play. A grown up reveals the 2 letter tiles and tells him what word to spell and he has to figure out which letter is missing and find the card with the right letter.
I would recommend this to a friend but definately with a child of the oldest age recommendation

This game has helped my son learn to spell and sound out 3 letter words is a FUN way. Very helpful for his ego! ;) My daughter who is younger likes to be the 'ticket' lady, who hands out the letters, but she first has to tell us what the letters are. This helps her as well learn her letters.
