My son received this as a gift for his second birthday. The piece was easy to add to my son's current Thomas wooden railway Day at the Works set and seems easy to add to any Thomas wooden set. I'm personally not too big on battery-operated toys, but my son enjoys the sounds and lights this toy makes.

It's made in the usual Thomas style you expect, however I was very disappointed they have started using plastic connectors on the track. The plastic piece broke off of the track where it was held on by a brass gromet(?) That kind of makes it worthless.

My son really loved this in the store and it has never lost it's interest. It has two great sounds and lights every time you push the button. I also love that it's compatible with the Imaginarium set too! My son is 2 yrs old and this item is one of his favorite!

This one is hard to play with. It has the two rails that I think are supposed to open and close-but in order to have them do that, you have to put some force into it. My son has a difficult time with this set.

Either use the button or one of the gates to activate the various lights and train crossing sounds. Only drawback is the road that crosses over does not coincide with the wooden tracks made for cars. As you can see, it only slants to flat ground.

I bought this item thinking I could do a "real" crossing with cars and trains my disappointment came when I saw there are not connectors for the road tracks. Frankly I think whomever designed and approved this product has no idea there are roads, cars and road sets in Thomas the train....
