Bring this to the hospital. You don't have to wipe it off before nursing - just apply after each nursing to prevent and heal cracks. You need it for about the first 3 months or so. Only downside is that it's tough to get off of your fingers, so keep a towel nearby.

This stuff is sticky but it does work. My complaint is that it stains your clothes, bra or anything else it comes in contact with.

Yes, this is thick and greasy, but it feels so good on sore, cracked nipples. I don't know what I would have done without this the first month of breastfeeding. It truly was a lifesaver, and probably was what helped me stick with breastfeeding. During those first few weeks, I could totally notice a difference if I missed an application or two...ouch!

As other reviewers have said, this stuff is too thick and too difficult to wash off your fingers. My son did not like the taste either, so I had to wipe it off before nursing, which was painful when I was sore. You can render it a little less stiff by rubbing it between your fingers first (as per the instructions), but even then, it is somewhat painful to rub on yourself when you are already sore. Don't bother with over the counter stuff. Go to your pediatrician and he/she can prescribe "All purpose nipple ointment". It has to be blended at a pharmacy but it is smooth, tasteless for the baby (at least it was for mine), doesn't have to be removed, rinses right off your fingers, and is basically perfect in every way. I wish I had known about it sooner. It healed me up right away. If you can't get it, don't bother with this Lansinoh goop. It is just too difficult to mess with.

This is truly a must-have product for women who are breastfeeding their babies. It really helps keep your nipples soft to prevent drying and cracking, and it helps heal cracked nipples. It's soothing as well as convenient, as you don't have to clean it off before feeding your baby. I can't live without this stuff!

I love this product! When my babies lips are dry I put it on her lips and they heal almost instantly! My nipples appreciate the healing power, as well!

I received this as a gift from my girlfriend who has a baby. She told me to bring it to the hospital to use after my baby was born. I thought "am I really going to need this when I just start breast feeding?" YES! I am so glad I listened. My nipples were so tender, dry, crackled, and sore and the cream instantly soothed them. For the mom who did not like the firm texture of the cream, I rubbed the cream in between two of my fingers for a couple of seconds to soften it and it worked fine.

This is perfect for helping soothe and heal sore nipples from nursing and pumping. It's great because you don't need to wash it off before you put baby on. My son had no problem nursing after I had applied it. Works great!

i received this product in the hospital & it was vital since after the 2nd feeding my nipples became raw & cracked. it provides relief asap - but it needs to be rubbed between fingers before applying to make it more pliable. the only thing is it feels slightly sticky. i wasn't leaking milk yet so i had no pads in my bras & nursing tops and this product is like a vaseline basically so it left marks on my black nursing top & on my bras that i had to pretreat twice to remove most of the stains. i would take a lil staining over cracked nipples - so a must have! provides a great barrier while showering as well...just try to remember to use pads to protect clothing.

I did not like this product, I felt that the cream was too hard to apply to the nipple, it just wasn't smooth enough. I felt like my nipple was being pulled as I applied the cream and it hurt. I found that the Medela brand cream is much smoother and really worked well making my nips feel so much better while we were trying to get the hang of breast feeding. After a month I didn't need it anymore!
