With my first baby I was so intimidated by the thought of making my own baby food, ESPECIALLY since I was working full-time. A friend gifted this to me and I'm so glad! It really IS quick and easy and I know exactly what my kids are eating. I'm on baby #2 and I still love this product! The cook book gives super-easy instructions for making the food (um, microwave and blender...could it be simpler?!).

If you're hesitant to try this with your baby, just take a stroll down the baby food aisle and read the backs of the jars. Sure, there really aren't a lot of weird ingredients on there (meaning, mostly it is FOOD), but have you seen how many of the jarred 3rd foods have carrots as one of the main ingredients? Nothing wrong with carrots, but I didn't realize I was giving them to my kids 3x a day. It's really nice to know exactly what your kids are eating with this system.

This is a great gift for yourself or a friend and I plan on getting it for my sister to use with her new baby. I'd pass mine along to her but it's such a great product I'm hanging on to it!

This cookbook has been a lifesaver. We are new parents and knew that we didn't like all the "junk" they put in baby food these days, but weren't quite sure how hard/easy it would be to make our own. This book has been a reference for us from the start. We steam all of our food as opposed to using the microwave, but this book guided us on what are good foods to introduce, at what age, what they can be easily mixed with, how to season them, etc. It couldn't be more all inclusive...not to mention an easy read.

I was really disappointed with this - since when is microwaving healthier than steaming? the "cookbook" basically just gives directions for how to microwave fresh fruits and vegetables, arguing this is better to keep in the nutrients! any nutritionist would die!!! I was expecting an actual cookbook. In addition the freezer trays are a bit hard. I returned this item in a hurry.

This book offers a wonderful guideline on what to feed your baby broken down by months. It helps you determine how much to buy to make two freezer trays of food so you don't over buy produce. It gives you spice suggestions for each food and the age range that you can start using the spice. This is a very simple product but it is extremely helpful to have on hand. The spiral binding makes it easy to prop open while using. A must have for all moms & dads who want to learn the basics about feeding your baby! I found this to be an EXCELLENT starting point for our daughter's first solid foods. I feel that there are some ingredients missing, but the information and guidelines are so helpful for me, a first time parent, that I'd highly reccomend the book to any first time parent. I use all organic ingredients for Lizzie and I feel so great knowing exactly what she's eating and how it was prepared. I know she's not getting any pesticides or fillers and we can combine different veggies to make mealtime interesting for her. Though you may choose to supplement this book with other recipes and ideas, I think this is a cornerstone for the conscientious parents' library.

We received this as a gift when my daughter was five months old and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. I made all of my daughter's baby food, and, with the help of this book, the trays and my Cuisinart, it couldn't have been easier. I was consistently amazed at how bright, fresh and delicious everything was. My daughter's three now and will eat literally everything (a true omnivore) and I attribute her wonderful palate to the beautiful, homemade food she ate in the first six months of her life. This is a MUST HAVE for conscientious parents!

Just received this book and I'm really disappointed - I expected a baby food cookbook. The first half of this book is just generic stuff about traveling and taking care of baby, and the second half very basic food "recipies" - if you can call instructions on how to choose and cook a sweet potato a recipie! What a gyp!

I agree with the last two reviews in regards to microwaving and not needing recipes to mash up food. You don't need a lot a creativity to combine foods and keep things interesting for your baby. There are a lot of free resources to help you with which foods to start when. I am very much against using a microwave for any cooking but especially for my baby. The microwave kills all the good organisms and enzymes in the food that play an important part in digestion. You loose valuable nutrition when using the microwave as well. I'm returning the book and using the money towards a good food processor.

I really like this book..the only thing I don't like it it really focuses on using the Microwave for faster cooking, saying that it is healthier because it uses little water, but whats the trade off...using a little more water by steaming or radiation that can alter the compounds of your babies food. Other than that I love the book and it really is easy to make your own baby food!
