its a typical product that is too good to be true. this product has its ups and downs, but i would only reccomend it to those who do not mind the following: vaccuming, extra laundry, finding storage space. I got to admit that it is pretty fun to play with and it gets my little sisters out of my hair for ATLEAST a half an hour. The first downside is that it takes up sooooo much space!!! The place where they play with it takes up half of our dining room table that we definitely cant eat on for a long time. The next downside is that it makes a HUGE mess!!!!!!!! The carpet near the table is practically smothered in moon sand and one time my sister came out of the room with her shirt and pants COVERED in moon sand that must have fallen off the table. It must have took my mom forever to get it off!!!!! Lastly, it takes FOREVER took clean up and put away!!!!!!!! step one collect all the sand (10 minutes later). . . step two fit molds in geometric-shaped box (5 minutes later) . . . . final step find space in your house to fit such a LARGE BOX!!!!!!! i probably won't reccomend it to people but if you want to try it go right ahead.

Moon sand in general is just gross! It makes a huge nasty sandy mess! I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone, however if your going to get it play with it outside!

This stuff is awesome. Yes, it makes a mess, but I guess I expected that. So does lots of other toys out there. It still took less than 5 minutes to clean up after my sons were done playing with it without taking any precautions to contain the mess. We have no problem with molding the sand. You just have to make sure you compact it completely and there is no issue (like the directions tell you to do). The carrying case is really cool and great to store all of the sand and accessories in. They could give you a little more sand, but because I read the reviews first, I picked up some extra before letting my sons (age 4) play with it and there wasn't an issue. They aren't interested in building the big castles and buildings like the commercial and advertisements, so we haven't tried any huge things. I don't see it being an issue with how compacted this stuff gets when done correctly. We have used the molds to make the buildings and it comes out perfectly hard and easy move. My husband loves this stuff too and played with it for about a half an hour last night, making all of the little animals and people. It is also great for children with sensory issues because of the unique texture. My sons love this stuff so much that they have asked to play with it again within just a few hours. As far as the mess goes, put a plastic table cloth down first. The only reason that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was the amount of sand for the price.

This product does not do what is shown on TV= the sand does NOT stick together to make figures etc... it is false advertising. this is the 2nd review i have tried to leave for this product. DONT BUY IT- IT DOESNT WORK.

Sand does not stick together or mold into anything as shown on TV- how do THEY get it to do that????? let me know - my daughter hates this stuff and I am so sorry i purchased it. I dont care that its messy- I just wish it worked

My 3 year old son loves this and spends an hour or two entertained. It is a bit messy but so are kids----get over it, vaccuum! I use a large baking pan with a lip and it keeps most of the sand inside. My son found it easy to mold, no problems here.

got this for my 7 yo and what a mess... The sand is a really fine powder that gets all over... sure it was easy to mold but you cannot help but leave powder all over thhe place as it sticks to your hands as well as everything else... Some friends of ours also got it for their 7yo boy and when he saw that we had some he told us to ask his son what he thought of the stufff and from the mouth or a 7yo "moon san sucks it is such a rip off... don't buy it"

I really like the fact that it never dries out, and cleanup is a breeze - just vacuum! You have to definitely use the molds, but we also use cookie cutters to make shapes. My kids love it!

My 3 year old son can't get enough of moon sand. It's a little messy, but easy to clean up. We have never had a problem getting it to mold like some of the other reviewers said. It's well worth the money to keep the little ones occupied while they are stuck inside for winter.
