Ultimately, GREAT as a hands free carrier, just think twice about the material and time of year you're most going to use it...

Comfortable fit for both me and my husband. GREAT because it's easy to adjust and get on and off by yourself (I have yet to find a sling that I like because there's just too many adjustments - and forget about getting dad to use a sling!)

Been able to use since baby was born (in March) but once the days got too warm, so did we! The material doesn't breathe and keeps baby cuddled up close - great for winter, not for summer. I commute with my son and had intended to take him with me in the Bjorn instead of stroller (easier in NYC to navigate steps than find elevators!) But "hands free" with this style would mean heat stroke on hot & humid days :-(

Not sure the more expensive design (with "extra" back support) is worth it. It appears to have more support, but after a day of errands, I was very aware of carrying my son. Probably need lower support instead of middle/upper back.

Also, use caution on steps! Carrying your little one this way will remind you of pregnancy and not being able to see your feet! But since we all adjusted to that, it's well worth the hands free aspect - at least you can grab the railing!

Get an Ergo or a Beco instead

I bought this when I was expecting my first. I was naive like so many other new moms. I hated it. It was uncomfortable and I hated that my daughter was dangling in it. I later discovered that this was not good for her spine b/c all her weight was on it rather than her butt. I did some research and found the Ergo. We loved it! She sat on her butt in it and it was much more comfortable. It has a hip belt that helps distribute the baby's weight. The weight limit is much higher (probably over 35 lbs) and you can wear it on your back. I wore her in the Ergo until she was well past 2 years old. For the price of this Bjorn, it's a waste of money b/c you can't use it for as long as you can other carriers. We now have a Beco as well, which enables you to secure the baby in the carrier before putting it on your back. We use the Ergo and Beco interchangeably. The downside is you have to order online and don't get to try it before you buy it, but it's still by far better than a Bjorn.

    My son LOVES to face out and see the world. It gets hard on my wrists now that he is a little heavier. This product is a lifesaver! He loves it, and seems so comfortable! I tried the ERGObaby carrier, and it might be better once my baby can be carried on my back, but it doesn't give the option to carry your baby facing outward. Love the active model AND the original. We have both so my husband can keep his set for his height (6'5") and I can keep mine (5'4").

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      So far I only used this model for a newborn/infant but I prefer the Active Model to the original model which I have used in the past. More comfortable for my larger build. Very happy user of the Baby Bjorn carriers. Once you follow the easy illustrations for the directions, you can easily put on and take off the carrier easily.

        I really like how user friendly my babybjorn is. It attaches very easily and smoothly and also is very easy to get back off. It's nice to not struggle to unhook it. When the my baby isn't happy in there any more its nice to just get him out smoothly and without any struggle. My baby likes to have his hands by his face so he doesn't always love having his arms pinned out to the sides, but that is a personal issue I don't think there is anything that could be changed in the product to fix that. It is very safe and secure.

                We just got this gift at our baby shower and my husband is already so excited to use it. He's excited to be on Dad duty and still be able to stop in at the local pub once in a while with our little guy secure in his pouch. Although we we're still waiting for our baby's arrival, we tried out the product and it seems very easy to use. I also like the added back support.

                We love this carrier. Originally we bought another brand but returned it due to the additional lumbar support of the Bjorn. This is great for everything from the shopping trip to hiking. The material is very soft and comfortable for the baby. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a carrier.

                First time father here, received this carrier as a gift after adding it to baby registry. As a new parent w/o much experience with baby products, this carrier was easy to learn how to put together, comfort that is easily adjustable, and durable and feels safe for my baby boy. Suits proud dads everywhere just perfect. Only complaint I have is that it isn't as comfortable on my wife because the size of her breast but overall great product. MUST HAVE FOR FATHERS!!!
