We have two of these, one for each child's room. Throughout the year, we use them when the kids are sick. During the winter, we use them 12 hours a night, plus naps, to counteract the dryness caused by our heater. So, they have gotten a lot of use. The first one just developed a leak, after 4 years. I believe it was my fault; I used straight vinegar to clean the part you are supposed to clean regularly (forgot what it's called). A leak developed through a screw almost immediately after I used the undiluted vinegar. I still recommend this humidifier, and plan to buy another. It has been so easy to use. We had to fill it once a day only when we had the heater cranked up. I like that we control the level of humidity we want. It is safe for kids' rooms, as there is nothing hot to touch. The tank is easy to fill and replace. And, I really don't clean it like recommended, yet it always works great. The blue night light on it could be helpful; for us, it was a bit too much light combined with our kids' other nightlights, so I covered it with tape and paper.

Bought the product to humidify our desert air..our newborn has sensitive/dry skin. 5 months in, we started noticing a "film" on every window and plastic item in the condo. The manual says this is a salt deposit and to clean the unit to get rid of that (didn't help). We are using filtered water, but I'm guessing we need to start buying distilled water now. Unit needs to be filled every morning.

I bought three of this junk humidifers, at that time, it was the quitest one around, one broke within one year, second one broke a little over a year, and third one lasted two years. don't waste your money, none lasted over 2 years. I cleaned the junk every year like recommended.

I am very surprised by the reviews for this product. I have been using this a little over a month and have ZERO issues. In fact, I think it is the best humidifier I have used. I am only giving 4 stars because I have not had it long enough to comment on the life-span of it and the bright blue ON light that is a bit TOO bright. I have the front facing a wall so that it is not overpowering.

I purchased this because it provides both warm and cool mist options. The warming coil is hidden, so there is no chance for a child getting burned. In addition to the humidifier, I purchased an add-on by Pureguardian that helps demineralize the water. We have VERY hard water and anything I could do to prevent white chalky residue on the furniture is a good thing. There are no filters to replace (HUGE PLUS) and it comes with it's own cleaning tools.

I have a humidistat in my daughter's bedroom. Without the humidifier in November/December, the room is about 37-45% humidity. With the humidifier, I can get it as high as 71% but only when she has a cold. Otherwise, I like it around 55-60.

I have been using the warm mist only and find that her room is very comfortable. To me, cool mist humidifiers seem to let a chill creep into the air which I do not like. Other humidifiers I have used seem to only create humidity right where the humidifier sits, getting the floor and furniture wet. This fills the whole room.

So far, this product has met and even exceeded my expectations. I have not yet tried to clean it. Filling the tank is not problematic for me. I'm not sure why anyone would say that it is.

Lastly, it is SUPER QUIET.

I bought this unit from the store and only read the reviews when I decided to purchase two more units. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Love this so far. I keep it running full blast and I don't have the white dust people have mentioned. The unit puts out a lot of mist but doesn't leave the floor or counter wet and it certainly does not leak. I will agree that the "warm" setting does not produce warm air. It's no different in temperature than the mist when the unit is on cold which was dissapointing. I talked to my doctor and he said there is no difference, health wise, between warm or cold mist. It's just a personal preference. I am really happy with this unit and am going down to Babies R Us to purchase two more. I would not advise anyone to purchase this on-line for shipment to your home. We all know how the shipping companies abuse packages and something this large, fairly fragile and high tech is doomed if the driver tosses it around and drops it once or twice!

Within 30 minutes the red no water indicator turns on the product stops working, even when the tank is full. I have to go shake the tank to get it to start again. I can't do that all throughout the night in my childs night. A $30 one I bought at CVS works better than this.

When I read the reviews, I thought people were too harsh on a simple humidifier! I bought it because in different web sites the reviews are not that bad. I bought for my baby's bedroom ( my baby didn't born yet) . After a few weeks of the purchase, I decided to start using it, because my other humidifier was dirty and I wanted to clean it.
I unpacked it, put water inside, and when I turned it on..... SURPRISE....
IT DIDN'T TURN ON!!!
I left in "ON", all night, to see if it was a matter of letting the water fill the machine inside, but nothing happened....
I went to the Babies R US and returned it!!!
It is not worth it!!!

Used when kids have colds or other respiratory infections. We are in round two with this product, with the first RSV spell two months ago, and the humidity control knob came off, and for some reason just sticking it back in doesn't work; therefore, the humidifier will turn on but not produce any vapors. Regardless of how well the product worked before, I cannot recommend this product when it breaks after two months. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt, so I am OOL.

We used this in our baby's room. He has asthma. It worked great at first then suddenly stopped working. -no mist at all. We returned it to the store for another. It did the same thing. I contacted the manufacturer and they said to clean it with vinegar water. Cleaning it did not help, it wasn't dirty to begin with. This product is not reliable.

Just purchased this humidifier yesterday and used it for the first time last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of water dripping and realized this piece of junk was leaking through the bottom. It had already soaked the table it was on and the carpet was completely soaked. I tested it again the next morning in the bathroom on a towel and it started leaking within 10 minutes. DO NOT BUY this product. What a piece of junk.
