My children received this item as a gift from some friends of ours. I want to believe that the negative reviews about it are incorrect but at this point I can't help but agree with most of them.

Regardless, there was zero literature included in the box and after various Google searches I'm beginning to believe that Edu Science is a ghost who simply wants to haunt us because I cannot succeed in finding a legitimate website for them.

Could somebody, anybody, please provide me with the website address for Edu Science .

All I want is the user guide/manual/installation instructions: whatever usually comes with this product because it simply isn't here.

It's supposed to be upside down because its an astronomic telescope and is an reflector(it uses mirrors). If you want it to be right side up you need to buy a right-angle attachment. Telescopes used for land viewing (trees mountains etc) are usually refractors. Telescopes that are for space are usually reflectors, which are usually up-side down viewing. This is a very high end telescope its works great for me. I'm going to gat an right-angle attachment and then ill be good to go. Lol.

I picked this up on-sale because I wanted something with a little more "umph" than my 3-inch scope, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money, yet.I wish I had saved the $7x.When I first mounted this scope, I found that it was VERY wobbly because the tripod is incredibly flimsy. It's difficult to focus the telescope with all the wobble, and tracking planets is hard because the mount has too much give. You wind up over shooting, having to backtrack, overshooting again, and finally getting it in view, only to have to mess with the wobbly focus.To combat this, I built a new alt-azimuth mount out of iron pipe fittings from [@], and I'm going to build a new tripod, as well. But that's the easy fix for this scope.When I received this scope, it was way out of alignment. As a beginner, collimation was daunting, but I stuck it out and got the telescope collimated. Unfortunately, the primary mirror can not be adjusted, so this is ANOTHER modification I'll have to make to the scope, and this mod will void any warranty. But because the primary mirror is out of alignment, this scope is dimmer than my 3-inch scope.This telescope just isn't ready for casual users, and veterans of stargazing won't be interested in the extra work just to make it functional.

The mirrors were all out of alignment. The base is way to light and it's hard to keep an object in sight. Any little bump will move the telescope. It's very frustrating and discouraging for kids who are eager to see something. The lenses are too weak.

For the price you pay, it's not a bad telescope. It takes a lot of practice. (If you read on-line, telescope sites will tell you this for any 'scope) Yes, things are upside down, but that's the way it's supposed to be. My 3yr old loves using it with me. My wife, thankfully, loves to join us! The main problems I have had with it, is the Finderscope is nearly impossible to line up with the Main tube of the 'scope. But thankfully, it's close enough if you concentrate to find your item. The tripode and telescope are very light. Too light, for if you are in a field and it's over slightly windy, the whole thing shakes and your wasting your time. If you take the time to practice, then you do get gratification out of using it to see planets and such. It takes work! I wouldn't buy it for my children, unless they are right around teenagers and have a good work ethic. But, as a family project, definetly worth it. The first time I used it all I could line up was the moon, but even that was a great experience!! To see something about 250,000 miles away in such detail, mind blowing! I can even put my relativly cheap digital camera up to the eyepeices and take pictures of magazine quality! IT TAKES WORK!! you are not going to see Mars on your first, second or third try...but maybe your fourth, depending on how much you practice

This is an beginner telescope! Don't expect perfect vision on planets like Saturn or Jupiter and especially small planets or stars. When i first got this telescope I had the finderscope holder on backwards and i couldn't find anything in the actual telescope. For all the other beginners make sure the finderscope is screwed in tight and your lens is all the way in the hole and screwed in, then look for the moon and use the 20mm lens, if your don't see anything move your telescope around slowly in every direction until you see a blurry light then move the focus wheel at the end of the lens holder back and forth slowly until your view is clear. If you want a closer view make sure the moon is in the center of your site and put in a lens with a lower mm

I set everything up according to poor instructions included in box and all we view is upside down. Another person commented that if this happens the operator is obviously a novice - so true! Which is why clear instructions would be helpful! This was a gift for my mature and intelligent 6 year old (as the product picture depicts), but I fear I will have to return it unless someone can tell me exactly what I need to do. So disappointing... :(
