I got this for my son, 4 at the time, for Christmas. He has stored it in his closet and plays with it very often for almost 2 years. He has carried it everywhere. We even took it on vacation last year so he could carry his own toys. We haven't had any of the problems listed in other reviews and my son is not exactly overly gentle with his toys.

My 4 y.o. son absolutely loves this castle and all the accessories that came with it. He plays with it for hours each day -- both alone and with me or his brother. Like all Playmobil sets, there are many tiny pieces, but that only increases the fun (well, and the mess :) While I agree with the other reviewers that the hinges and jail doors don't stay connected during play, it is VERY easy to reconnect them (like Legos) for transport. We have had no problem transporting the castle. We have not had a problem with any parts breaking. We also have a Playmobil pirate ship and a few other items. The boys play with all of it together and have a ball with it every day. Lots of room for creative, imaginative play. We will definitely purchase more Playmobil toys in the future.

My three year old loves his castle! Now seriously, why would you take this toy anywhere other than from the living room to the child's bedroom? IF that is what your pre-schooler does with his toys, than this is the toy for you. If you want to take this to grandma's, I'd think twice. Pieces will get lost along the way. Nevertheless, my son also loves the add on toys, like Dragon Rock, and other soilders with fire ball catapults and swords. The castle comes fully loaded with shields, and a wall that breaks down when the rubber fireball hits it. For a pre-schoolers imagination--this is as good as it gets for the price. I recommend it. I gave it three stars because of the unbelievably small parts. Too many to count. But with patience, the castle put together is terrific. Also, it's nice to be able to explain what each piece is for. Compare it to a book about Knights from the past, this toy can actually be a great learning toy.

My 4 year old son loves this castle..He has played nonstop with it..The only fault is it comes apart very easy but just goes back together easy...

The Castle size and product descriptions were nice, but in reality, the Take Along castle was nothing but a headache. All the pieces fell apart when you tried to fold it in or open it. Some pieces are too small and the not very sturdy. I even called Playmobil and explained to them the problem I was having with the pieces that held the castle together, which would fall off easily and all they did was send me new ones, which also fell apart. I was not happy with the product and ended up throwing it out because it was more of a hassle than anything else. Not worth the money and time to put everything together!

I think that the concept is great... but it just didn't live up to what it claimed - "Take-Along Castle". The three major components of the castle won't stay attached because the things that connect it together will not stay on, therefore you can't take it along, which is the reason why it caught my eye. If it stayed together and the drawbridge stayed together it would be great.

My 3 and 5 yr olds received this for Christmas and after opening it, I was very disappointed in the quality. It falls apart thus making it imposible to be a "take along" toy. Too many very small parts for younger children. The draw bridge didn't work either and the gates for the "jail" kept falling off. I have returned it and am looking for something of higher quality.

I have a 4 year old son and a 3 year old son they BOTH love this toy almost as much as I do we play for hours and the 4 year old wants to keep buying all the extras.

I bought this for my four year old son for Christmas. The day after Christmas he had broken the castle gate. Two days later, he had broken the mechanism that allows the castle to connect.

I am so disappointed. I am not the type of parent to buy a lot of toys at Christmas so the ones I buy I really want my son to love.

Yesterday, my son and I went through his old toys to donate to charity and he wants to give away the castle because he says it is 'broken'.

So now I am back to drawing board.

My son received this toy for Christmas 2007. Parts are difficult to put together. The hinges constantly fall off making it impossible to move the castle from location to location. After about 10 minutes of play my 4 year old son took the swords and characters and is now using them with other toys. The castle is in the corner.
