We started using this when Patrick was 8 weeks old. We first used it while shopping at the A&P and he LOVED being able to look around the store (We also got alot of comments on the cute baby which was fun!). We now use it on every shopping trip (it's great at BJS and Target). It totally frees up your arms to push a cart and take things off the shelves. We have also taken him to the zoo and aquarium in it and again it provides great oppotunities for him to look around. It does take a while to master putting him in and taking him out, but you get used to it. It is easiest to do with two people, but doable by yourself. It is comfortable on my shoulders and VERY easy to put together out of the box. We all love it and use as much as we can. A must have for babies and parents who are on the go.

It was tough to find the right infant carrier and I bought this product because I trust the Chicco brand -- I have their carseat, stroller, play yard & plan to get their high chair. When I first tried this carrier, I thought it was a great buy but now that I've had it for a few days, I have a few critiques:

#1: It is somewhat difficult to get your baby into and especially out -- the mesh creates cling to your baby so it can be difficult to pull baby straight up & out -- impossible to do while baby is asleep.

#2: Although it says for 7.5 lb to 25 lbs, my 5 week old at 10lbs looked like she had been swallowed in it -- I had to fold the top down in order to see her.

#3: Long usage will cause some discomfort on your shoulders & back. I went for a 2 mile walk to the grocery store and on the way back, I could definitely start to feel the pressure on my shoulders & mid-back. I have used this for a maximum of 2 hours and after some stretching, I felt fine but who knows what will happen as my baby grows & gets heavier...

#4: The adjustable straps on the side are difficult to adjust, especially when you have the baby in your way!

#5: The cuddle pocket feature is useless -- there's so much padding that there's no way your baby can feel your touch... I would rather this be an extra pocket for me to store something small, like a cellphone or keys.

#6: Attached snap-on bib is a good idea but the bib they provide you with is really ugly and BRIGHT WHITE -- I would rather this be a universal snap-on for all bibs.

Chicco has a more expensive deluxe version of this carrier.
It's almost twice as expensive but it has these additional features:
    *Opens from front
    *Waist belt and lumbar support
*Quick fixing attachment points and multiple easy adjustments
Seems like it would solve a lot of the above problems I mentioned but at twice the price, I hesitate.

Comments about Chicco UltraSoft Frontal Infant Carrier - Black:

this item is very easy to use and convenient! instead of keeping my child in a car seat for a long period of time while I go shopping, or to the grocery store, or visiting some friends, especially when going to the doctors office for my children's well check up at least I can have my child close to me at all time and know that I have nothing to worry about anything happening to them.

Comments about Chicco UltraSoft Frontal Infant Carrier - Black:

This carrier is not comfortable on the shoulders and will pull and eventually give you a backache. Spring for a babybjorn or ergobaby carrier instead.
The construction is good but the lack of a back strap around the waist to help distribute the baby's weight really strains your back to carry the load upfront.

My baby and I both LOVE it!!! It's sooo comfy! One of my friends got Baby Bjorn and ended up not using it because her baby wasn't comfortable in it, so she got this carrier after seeing how happy my baby was in it.

Nice carrier but it's extrememly difficult to get the baby in and out of especially if they are sleeping! My son loves it but as soon as he falls asleep inside it I have to carefully lay him flat on his back and pull it off like a pair of pants. It really should have clips/snaps that open on at least one side but it doesn't. The adjustable side straps are difficult to loosen as well. I would spend a little more and get one that has these features.
