I was nervous about buying this product for my son's birthday after reading some of the reviews. However, despite my reservations I ordered the toy chest. It came in perfect condition..no dents or scrapes. It took my husband and father about an hour to put together. It was a great prop to hold all of his birthday presents besides being so useful now. The art details on the chest are very darling. The art work details are even better than I could see in the picture. The toy chest itself seems very safe too. It holds open and doesn't slam shut. I am so happy with my purchase!

My grandson will be using the Guidecraft Pirate TOYCHEST as a toychest. Hmmm? It is adorable to look at. It should be every childs dream.The item it should withstand an earthquake yet it is my belief that it will not outlast a childs imagination. I don't give it a year. The building materials are flimsey at best. A child does climb in and out occasionally to get a toy way in the back. The bottom will not hold 30 pounds of bouncing boy. The top only opens half way. The same short screws that hlod most of it together will not hold up the top for long. A child of 50 pounds will cause it to collapse if he lies across it or body slams it like little boys might. Last of all the paint job is a sad joke. I accidently put scratches in the surface by picking up a peice normally with my short fragile weak nails at the ends of my fingertiips. They went all the way throught the paint job that comes with warnings about cleaning technicue. When kid crust gets on to something soap and water are seldom enought. Any type of serious scrubbing even with a soft cloth will go right through this paint.On the other hand, the poeple who helped me purchase this item were great. They deserve a raise! [...]

Large and spacious, this toy chest is great for a boy's room. A little difficult to assemble.

The toy box was perfect for my 3 year old pirate loving grandson! The only problem was cheap hardware. The small screws that came with the box broke and would not hold the hinges onto the lid. My husband used larger screws and drilled other holes to make the lid sturdier. Other than that, it was great.
