To be honest I have read the books but not watched the movies so I don't really know what's going on here. The boat is a fairly easy build only difficulty being the attaching of the string.Catapult is a nice little function. The sort of armory building is a nice build and I particularly like the weapon rack with morning star, long sword,And short sword. The passage way has one gripe, the fish goes flying in all directions. The large house/ prison is pretty interesting with it's rooftop catapult and beautiful architecture all over. The prison is nothing fancy but the escape function is a nice touch. The lake master has a greedy look on one side of his face and a surprised expression on the other. His robes look.....interesting.The guard has nice printing on the front and a nice helm.I was kind of disappointed in Thorin with a plain blue shirt and a rope belt.Bilbo is as normal with ring and sting.I got a free poster along with this and am a satisfied customer.

Good set, but sold out?

By SethA

from Dallas

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Lake-town Chase (79013):

As a product, this is a good set to own. The only real difficulty is tying the string on the boat. Most of the cons I would list are nitpicky, but still I think are valid things to point out. Pros: - Captures the style of Lake Town - Boat well done! Cons: - Only one barrel on the boat. Even if you can't fit 13 barrels, surely more than one barrel could have been in the set, at least to replace the mini catapult which has nothing to do with Bard's boat... - Which brings me to the next nitpick. Why is it that every Hobbit set MUST include mini catapults?? I mean, it's becoming cliche, even on sets where there is no real fighting. In hind sight, why doesn't the Unexpected Gathering set have a catapult? I mean, it's as fitting there as Bard's boat having a catapult. - More fish should have been included Last comment, why does this set still show "Sold Out" after a couple months? That's my gripe with Lego in general...if you are not making a set any more, please mark it "retiring soon" or similar. Saying "Sold Out" is very unhelpful for those trying to collect. Does that mean, wait longer and there will be more some day?

You can tell the Master I'm done for the day.

          By armadillosandwich

          from McKinney

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Lake-town Chase (79013):

Here's to another great Hobbit set! Before we get started, I'd like to give a small note to LEGO to apologize for the complaining in my last few reviews, because I was convinced that some of my reviews were not appearing after 48 hours. Actually, they were, it's just that reviews no longer appear in the order they are made? Anyway, sorry about that, let's get on to Laketown. LAKE-TOWN: The set is mainly made up of two buildings in Laketown: the Master's quarters/prison and an armory. Both buildings are mounted on their respective wooden posts over water and are spotted with snow. The armory is small, with only a small hut featuring a weapons rack (a sword, a knife, and a mace are included), as well as a hidden door for Bard to hide someone in. It is covered by a little barrel with a fish in it. The tower has a prison that can have a blown-out wall and a underpass. Above those is the Master's cabin with a table and a bottle, and a lookout post with a catapult. Both are well-built buildings. BARD'S LAKETOWN BOAT: The boat is the other big chunk in the set, being an extended mold to make a long barge. It would have been nice if it were just a tiny bit bigger, since all the features in it can't be doubled; eg. the included barrel for the dwarves/Bilbo to hide in, Bard's oar rowing, and the ability for anyone to really walk around. The boat also has a lamp, a catapult, and some rolled sails. A very good boat save for inner maneuverability. MINIFIGURES: -Bilbo Baggins: Bilbo has been featured in most of the sets so far, so we all know about him. He has his sandy hobbit hair, a determined expression and a scared expression, and is wearing a red adventure outfit. He is armed with Sting and the Ring. -Thorin Oakenshield: This version of Thorin is exclusive, him being in blue robes instead of armor. He has black dwarf hair and beard, and has a regular face and an angry face. He is armed with a sword. -Bard: An exclusive, well-done figure. He is wearing brown robes and printing, and has a regular face and angry face as well. He has black hair the same mold as Qui-Gon, and is armed with the large bow and arrow (the same as the elves). Awesome minifigure! -Master of Laketown: The master is an exclusive minifigure, featuring all-new body printing, a rare purple/red cape, a colorful hat with a feather, and a weird face or evil laugh face. He comes with a gold key. -Laketown Guard: The guard wears purple robes and a special silver fish-like helmet. He has a reddish beard on his face, which can be either angry or a little less angry. He is armed with a long spear that has also been seen in Indiana Jones and Ninjago. OVERALL: A great set. I'm not sure how much of what I'm going to say will be included in another set in the future, but I would have been happy to make this up to an $80 set if it could have a slightly bigger boat, a building with the wind-lass (black arrow shooter), a building for Bard's house, and a few more minifigures, namely some Orcs (Bolg?), any of the dwarves that are left at Laketown (Bofur, Kili, Fili, Oin), and Legolas and/or Tauriel, since the real big battle in Laketown so far took place with those characters. But as for what we have, this was a great set, though as always, the price is a bit....well...pricey. But it's really no concern by now.

            Lake Town

            By IndianaJonesBrother

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Lake-town Chase (79013):

This was a great set. I would definitely buy it. It comes with: Bilbo, Thorin, The Master of Lake Town, a Lake Town guard, and Bard the bowman. It also comes with three main builds: an Armory, a Boat, and a jail/office for the master of lake town. Thorin has two faces, one angry and one plain, and a short sword. Bilbo is the normal Bilbo, he comes with Sting and the ring. The Master of lake town has a double side cape, (one side purple and the other red) a hat with a plume two faces, one happy and one troubled, and his body is really detailed. The Lake Town guard has a cool helmet and wields a spear. Bard has two faces one angry and one normal, his clothes are nicely detailed exactly like the film, and he carries a long bow. Bard can wear a quiver but the set doesn't come with one. The armory is a nice small building, with a short sword, long sword, and a flail. One part of the wall can be lifted up as a secret passage or hiding spot. The boat is really cool made up with to row boats, it has a sail detail attached to the mast, it also has a barrel for Thorin to hide in. the jail/office is the largest part of the set: the jail docent have much detail, but it has a cool function where you can knock down the wall to rescue Bard. The office has a lantern and has a catapult on the outside, there is a large amount of snow detail on the roof of the buildings. I really liked the set because of the detail and the playability. It's really cool how they added the pieces at the bottom of buildings to give the Lake-Town effect. In all I give this set 5 out of 5 stars.
