The product allows me to completely pump milk out of both breasts in the time it took me with a manual pump with one breast. In addition, I'm not as engorged and painful and tender in my breasts as when I used the manual pump. Also my little girl is very hungry when she cries for her food. By taking my milk into the baby bottle, it allows the milk to pour into her little tummy much faster than she can suck on my breasts herself and therefore, she is content, faster. Because I alternate between bottle feedings and breast milk, as my milk supply is sometimes 1.5 oz, and sometimes 3oz, it allows me to give her a meal if I only have 1.5 oz of milk and finish off the remaining quantity with formula, and it allows a consistent feeding method: bottle, because once a baby is used to the bottle, the sucking reflex is not as strong, so I need to give her a consistent quantity of food, and a consistent feeding method, and not make her cry when is is hungry and it allows her to fill her tummy much faster. This machine allows me to avoid switching feeding methods, allows me to know exactly how much milk I've given so that the quantity of food given determines the time spacing between feedings and I can better judge when her next meal needs to be, since if my own milk is less, I can still give her the 3 0z she always wants, and I know she is well fed and satisfied. I cannot stress how important it is to breastfeed your kids and I think by having the right pump you're encouraged to continue doing so. Breastfeeding is a lot of work and takes a lot of energry and time at first but once you have a pump that's good, it will make this challenging process, a lot less challenging. I started pumping every 2-3 hrs when my daughter was born for 30 mins a time, about 8 times a day, and as my body became more efficient, i use to pump every 2-3 hrs, 7 mins at a time to get the maximum amount of milk. This encourage me to breast feed (exclusively) for six months until I had to go back to work.

This pump is wonderful. When I registered at BRU with my 1st child I didn't think I would need a pump but my husband made me buy one. I planned to just get a hand pump, but he figured if I was going to get one I should get this one. Well, he was right (don't tell him I admitted that)! My 1st son had problems latching on and I had to pump and feed him with a syringe/bottle for 12 weeks until he got the hang of nursing. I continued to use it to pump and bottle feed when I would be out without an opportunity to nurse, or when leaving him with a sitter. Now I am on my second son and, although he has no latching problems, I still pump so that my husband or sitter can give him a bottle occasionally. BTW: It takes me only 10 minutes to drain both breasts (that's with 2 let downs).

I am a working mother and was nursing my daughter but now that she is in day care she will only take a bottle, I used the mi pump by 1st yrs for the first 6 months of her life and LOVED it but the motor died so I figured after all the great reviews I would by this pump, it is AWFUL I am so mad that I spent almost 300 dollars on it the suction never gets more powerful just longer the personal fit shields are horrible the milk seeps out and causes suction loss I have to pause pumping to wipe off the shield and myself and start over again, I want to buy another mi pump but if I told my husband how bad this pump was after i convinced him i needed it he would flip I am sooooo extremely dissapointed I could cry. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY even if you get the mi pump and it dies 2 are cheaper then one medela. and the bag is sooooo small I hate it so much

I had many problems breastfeeding and this product helped me give my milk to my baby longer than I would have been able to otherwise. It was easy to use, quick, and pain-free. It took a lot of stress out of those first few weeks.

This pump was great for me...I was able to breast feed my son for 1 year because of this pump! I went back to work 12 weeks after my son was born and wanted to continue to give him the benefits of breat milk while at work. I can not say enough good things about this product. Also, I am glad to see that all parts that come into contact with breast milk are BPA and PVC free.

have been using the product about 3 weeks now, up to 3 x's/ day... very easy to use and clean... pump malfunctioned after 2 weeks, but medela sent a new pump the next day and paid for return of the original.

This product has restored my sanity!!
I have a 3 week old son born via c-section because of a failed induction. My doctor wanted to induce me because I was preeclamptic. I believe that had something to do with my milk having trouble coming in. I had every intention of exclusively breastfeeding, but since my milk supply was questionable my son wasn't gaining weight like he should. We had to formula feed for a while :( Now, I pump for 30 min, using this pump, every 3-4 hours and my milk supply has just about doubled! I cried many, many tears over fearing I wouldn't be able to give my son the best thing for him, breast milk, and am more than grateful this product has made it possible!

My pump went up after a few months of using, the replacement i received from medela lost its sunction power after just 2 weeks. Dont waste your money.

I had to return to work when my son was three months old and used this pump 4 times a day, 5 days a week for the last nine months and only just now 'retired' it when my son turned 1. It's easy to use and strong enough to continue breastfeeding even if you have to work. If you are serious about frequently pumping, don't waste your money on a cheaper model. My only suggestion would be to get the the hands free version as that definitely would have come in handy.
