United States of America wooden jigsaw puzzle with capitals and state outlines under pieces. The USA Map puzzle from Melissa and Doug helps teach individual state names and capitals, as well as providing notable state information; encourages vocabulary development and basic geography. Ask the child to assemble the map on a flat surface, not in the puzzle board; if necessary, use the puzzle board as a guide. Review each state and discuss the information printed on the back of the puzzle board. This information includes the following for each state: abbreviation, capital, population, size, flower, bird, and motto. Vermont and New Hampshire are on one piece. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are on one piece. New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C. are on one piece. Ages 5 and up.

This is a great way to teach children about the world. We used it to show our 4 year old where his relatives live! He loved having a visual when they were on the phone. I love this puzzle.
