Description

Grow to Pro Basketball from Fisher-Price grows with your child from small to tall, and from beginner to pro! An easy-to-attach ball return scoop lets pros practice free throw skills without having to chase the ball after making a basket. Adjustable to four different heights: 3, 4, 5 and 6 feet high, the net features a sturdy base that can be weighted with sand or water. Ball is included.

Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

We've owned the Little Tikes Easy Score hoop for 2-3 years now, but my 4-year-old (and 41") son now needs the 5' height of the FP Grow to Pro. The LT was fun enough, but its rim sags quite a bit; I just measured the highest height at 43" --a good 5" short of the 4' advertised. It was quite a noticeable difference when sitting next to our new FP Grow to Pro, when also set at 4', as the FP rim is nicely level with the ground and the height is thus what it should be. Assuming the lowest 3' setting isn't too high for your child, I'd definitely recommend skipping right to the FP Grow to Pro, as it is much bigger (both height and backboard size) and sturdier, and you should get years more service from it, as it extends to 6' vs. 3.5-4' for the LT. When my son eventually outgrows this, he should be able to shoot at the 7.5' setting of my full-sized (7.5-10') hoop. Since I just picked this up in advance of the Christmas season, I've got it set up in our basement for now, and we've already had fun shooting around down there on it. Even without any sand or water in the base, so it's much easier to move around, it can be used as such. When spring comes, I'll take it outside and fill the base, as I did with the LT. I found the assembly easy enough, by the way. As for balls, the one that comes with it is OK, esp. for young children like my son, but I also picked up several nicer/heavier balls in the 6-7" size that work great with it. My favorite is a 7" (Size 3) Spalding that feels much like a "real" ball.

      Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Grow-to-Pro Basketball:

According to my daughter-in-law who kept me informed of the assembly by photos and texts, my son had no issues assembling this hoop but my 15 month old grandson was of the opinion that it took too long since it wasn't instantaneous.

According to his mother, he had the ball in hand jumping up and down in his eagerness to shoot.
And I could hear an excited little voice, "Ball" he said, "basketball"
Once it was assembled the real fun began for father and son. Yes, a 15 month old has a concept of basketball and knew what to do.
Good news, the ball is safe for toddlers. Although according to my DIL, tonight he was stickhandling the ball with the mini hockey stick. (Which meets with this old hockey mom's approval)
I will advise them not to leave it outside in the summer. For now it will remain indoors away from the weather.
And no, this was a suggested just because "present" with the actual choice (reading reviews etc) up to me.
So keep reading the reviews - they matter.
Since he's only had this hoop for less than a week, I cannot comment about how well it has held up.
All I know is the photos and the audio are wonderful.

My son received this toy as a birthday present when he was 2 years old. We have it now for 18 months and it is a fun toy. It works great in our finished basement during winter and it seats in the driveway during the warmer days. My son doesn't get tired of it.

We got this for my 2 year old son who was happy and content with shooting baskets into a laundrey basket, since we got this for christmas he has been at it everyday totally loves it! All of the family gets a kick with playing with him on it it's very durable and better then one of those other hoops that are not as strong. It would probably work outside just fine but we got it to use strictly indoors.

Got this for my 2 year old (he is 34" tall) and he LOVES it... just tall enough to get it in on the lowest setting. The product construction, ease of assembly and 'grow' part of this hoop is excellent and I know he will enjoy this for years to come!
