Finger Guard Cabinet & Drawer Latches by Safety 1st not only help keep your curious crawler from accessing off-limit cabinets and drawers, but also help prevent painful finger pinches. They install easily inside of your cabinets and drawers, making them invisible to visitors passing through the area. The latch allows a small opening for parents to activate, but the integrated finger pinch guard adds an extra level of security by stopping the cabinet or drawer from slamming shut on little fingers. Make sure your off-limits cabinets and drawers really stay off-limits with this effective home safety product.

The included template for installing the catch and latch is very poor. Carefully following the instructions and using the template resulted in the latch and catch not even being close to lining up properly. If these are misaligned even a tiny bit, the cabinet can be opened by children and the cabinet won't close without the having to fiddle with the latch.

Comments about Safety 1st 8PK Finger Guard Cabinet & Drawer Latch:
The latches themselves seem to be pretty sturdy, but the screw heads keep breaking off while trying to install. We even tried drilling pilot holes. We now have chunks of screw sticking out of the inside of our cabinet drawers. I was expecting a quality product by ordering a name brand. What cheap junk! Very disappointing!

Didn't know it came with screws and so I didn't use it for my wood cabinets.

I have had these on my cabinets for over 8 years and they are still going strong.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Horrible template but a good latch
These latches work great. However the template and installation is awful. Thankfully I've been blessed with a handyman hubby that got it done!

Waste of money

I bought these based on their low price attempted to use these in our bathrooms where the cabinet doors are not used often. The template is a cheap piece of paper that gets ruined easily/quickly and does not alight properly. These do not work well on doors, and take many adjustments to make them fit properly. I ruined a cabinet door trying to get one to align. These may be OK for drawers. The overall design is not forgiving and requires very exact alignment to work correctly on doors. I used the magnetic style locks (Safety Baby brand) for our kitchen cabinet doors and will be buying more for the rest of the house.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The WORST Cabinet Latch BY FAR!
from Florence, KY
VERY DISAPPOINTED!! While the plastic is lightweight and durable, it is very difficult to install properly. You are only given a piece of paper for a template and I have found that the two pieces will not line up with older cabinetry. One slight flaw in the door and it will not line up properly. You have to flip the door guard down to close the door. I will be returning the unused product and purchasing a different brand.
I like the finger guard aspect-your baby can't accidentally open the drawer a few inches, then close it on their finger. It locks tightly in place once opened about 1.5-2in. Yet it is easy for an adult to close the drawer again.
