I ordered this gate online, as I wanted to Keep my grand-baby in the living room and my dog out. This gate was in the main entrance of the house, but the walk-thru area gate was very skinny. My husband is not a huge person, but he said he had to turn sideways to get thru. It was not very accommodating in that aspect. Other than that, it was a breeze to put together, (I did it myself) and there was no hardware, which is great! It was all tension mounted. It was also very sturdy, and another thing I did not like about it was it did not open both ways, I have other gates similar to this one, and they open both ways. That was something that was inconvenient. I ended up returning it.

We use these gates with our dogs are they are great! Installation was super easy, as I was able to put up three of these in multiple sizes varying from 35" to 49" by myself. Pay attention to the tension for the top tension screws to make sure that the gate opens and shuts correctly. If the tension was too tight I had trouble getting the gate to open.

I needed something immediatley to block my kitchen from my two year old so i went to my local store to get a gate. I already have the dreambaby gate and oh my this gate is super inferior to the dreambaby gate. First of all its brown not black, it feels cheap with its plastic parts, my cats kept getting their heads stuck in it and it was so tall they couldnt jump over it. The gate would only open one way and it never shut all the way when it was supposed to swing back closed. Ive already ordered another dreambaby gate just like the one i have and paid for one day shipping. The dreambaby gate is cheaper and so much better made. Plus it does everything the box says it will do. Skip this gate!!!

We purchased two of these gates to go at the top and bottom of our stairs after much research on here and amazon. They were easy to set up and look nice. Our little one is not crawling or walking yet, so I can't rate them with respect to how well they protect her or hold up against her pushing on them. We have also only had them up for 3 days, so durability has yet to be rated. The reason I gave them 4 stars out of 5 is because we are having an issue with one of the gates locking. Both are screwed into our walls, upstairs and downstairs. We've tightened the pressure, but it still doesn't lock. You can easily lift it up and open it without using the lock release button which is troublesome. We will consider returning this one gate, perhaps it is defective. We have had no problems with the same gate that is installed upstairs.

The Good: Well the gate looks great in the house and functionally works perfect and the main reason I got it was because to open it you have to pull back a button and lift in order for the gate to open. On top of that it only opens one way so just in case the child is leaning on it the gate will not open towards the steps.

The Bad: my two year old son figured out how to open the gate. One day I was upstairs and my wifew came up and left my son down stair while she brought something up to me. Well a few seconds later there is my two year old son standing at my bedroom door excited that he was able to open the gate himself.

I also have to admit that when people do come over that are larger size they have a problem going through the gate. This gate is not for larger frame people :)

This gate looks very nice. However, when we tried installing it we had what was apparently the exact WRONG size entryway in which to install it. It was too small an opening to use the extensions, but too large an opening to not use them. We ended up ripping out the moulding on our floor to widen the area so that we could add one extension. We ultimately got it installed just fine (but what a pain that turned out to be!), and now I hate going through the gate. It's easy to open and shut, but the opening is very narrow. It's very difficult when I'm carrying things (like a giant load of laundry) that need to go through the gate. Additionally, I don't like it at the top of the steps because there is a bar that runs the whole way across the bottom, even when the gate is open. I feel that this makes it easy to trip, which is an issue for me, especially when I'm carrying my son. We will be replacing it in the next week - perhaps we'll have better luck using it at the bottom of our stairs.

Every complaint I've seen about this gate is clearly based on people who can't follow directions. You have to set the tension tight enough to move the top latch together. I installed it in less than 10 minutes using one long and one short extension for a 43" kitchen opening using the non-screw option. If it's too heavy to carry or you can't fit through it, exercise should be your next priority.

I would definately use this gate for babies. It's strong, sturdy, looks good, holds up longer & better than any of the wooden or plastic gates. This gate was everything we ever wanted in a secure barrier (for puppy, that is). Easy to store when we travel, the gate went with us. Extension units really came in handy. Most gates are flimsy & fall over way too easy. The walk-thru door was the best feature. No problem getting in and out. My friend is now using our gate and loves it. We have 11 great-grand babies. I have referred this type of gate to them all.
