A standing ovation for the Lego Modular creators. Wow. I can not believe how wonderful this set is. This set is just, wow. I don't know what to say. The set is amazing and stunning. I have a whole lot to say about the set at the end but lets get to the main review! Minifigures: Chef - All the modular mini figures always have the classic LEGO happy, yellow face. The chef is a neat mini figures and includes plain white pants, a classic chef torso, a knife, and a classic chef hat. Waiter - The waiter is a fancy, classical minfigure. He includes plain white pants, a business suit, a waiter trey with a beer bottle on it, and nice brown hair. Girl - The girl actually seems to be a teenager or a young adult. The girl has blue pants and something I thought was interesting is that she is wearing the Sensei Wu torso. She also has long, nice brown hair. She also includes a red classical 50s type motorcycle or scooter or some type of bike. Romantic Couple - The romantic couple is 2 minfigures which is a man and a woman. The man has light brown pants and a blue business suit. He has blond hair and a wedding ring (also known as the ring from the Lord of the Rings) ready to propose to his girlfriend or soon to be wife. The woman has sand colored pants and a blue torso with a seashell necklace. She has long orange hair and a wine glass. Main Build: Now before I can give you guys the detail to this main building I have to tell you guys that I will be splitting the set into the 3 floors so I'll talk about each floor and more one at a time. 1st Floor (Parisian Restaurant) - Now the Parisian restaurant is incredible. It's like no modular I have ever seen. The outside detail is amazing. On the left side of outside building in the front are seats for outside customers. There is a table with one seat that has a croissant on it and a table with two blue chairs. The outside eating area has 3 black chains with green flowers under them surrounding the eating area which is a fantastic feature. There is also 2 yellow flowers in maroon red pots in the area too. The entrance to the restaurant is very detailed with a red carpet leading to the entry way and a clear door to enter inside. There is a fancy red over curtain to give it a fancy look and a label/logo that shows the Restraunt's name "Chez Albert Restaurant". There is also a cool little menu on the outside on a stand so the customers can see what delicious treats the restaurant can offer for them. On the right side of the outside there is a brown bench and a lamp post plus some green spiky plants. There is also a brown detailed stairway that heads up to the 2nd floors outside area. On top of the 1st floors outside are some very detailed shade gliders made of black cell-like doors and tree leaves plus some lamps. There are also some giant brown windows in the eating area. Inside there is two tables, one containing two black chairs and the other containing two black chairs as well. There are various of brown windows and a painting of a ship sailing in the night. There also is a very cool beer holder with 4 classes of various of colors in the case. As you can see inside the romantic couple are talking until the young man decides to propose! (Well you don't have to make that happen it's just my imagination and what he's supposed to do.) As you can see the waiter is also running after the couple to refill there drinks. The ground is made of various of colors but mostly tan smooth bricks. If you didn't know, the 1st floor is supported by a brand new 32x32 grey baseplates which you normally see bigger. As you go over to the chef's kitchen there is a beautiful blue and black patterned tile floor. There is a place where the chef is cooking a roast turkey and behind him are various of tools to use for cooking including knives and cake rollers. There is a white fridge in the corner. There is a area to wash the dishes containing plates and glasses. There also is a are which holds cupcakes and pies. There is a clock up above and a broom stick holding on the side. The kitchen and the eating are is separated by a tiny bar that has red flowers on it. The whole restaurant is made of olive green colors and light grey colors. Incredibly detailed and fun! The back side outside of the place is very detailed too. There is a green trash can and a trash dumpster that is open and full of hot dogs, grapes, and bones. Next to those two trash things is a grey mice. There is a door that leads into the kitchen that has above some red and white shade gliders. On the walls of the restaurant outside back are green plants/vines that have red flowers on them and weeds. 2nd Floor (Couples Apartment and Outside Parisian Eating Area) - After a long night at the Parisian Restaurant the couple finds themselves in the upstairs apartment! Inside of the apartment is 3 doors one leading to the outside front view of the building, one leading to the outside back of the building porch, and one leading outside to a area with stairs leading to the 3rd floor and the area were the 2nd floor restaurant eating area is (which I'll talk about soon). There is a red lamp in the apartment and a kitchen full of various details like the oven and the pantries. there is a seat with a table that has a coffee cup on it. There is a spinning chair that has a desk in front of it that is clear and black. There is a fold up chair that you can fold down to reveal a cozy sandy colored and light blue colored patterned bed. There is a fire place that is greatly detailed and warm which is also connected to the outside chimney. The outside of the apartments front detail is very cool. There are two huge windows which have pink and green flowers below them. In the middle of the apartment is a porch which one of the couple can walk up and look at the beautiful city they live in (If they live in a beautiful city). On the right side of the building is a cool part of the chimney with various of details like the grey bricks and random tiny light grey spots. On the back of the building is a really cool stairway that leads up to the 3rd floor. There also is another porch. Another thing that is apart of the 2nd floor is the outside 2nd floor dining area! Yes the Parisian restaurant still doesn't end! There is a mini area that has 2 tables that each contain two blue chairs. There is a area that has a bottle and a wine glass. There also are various of black bars and some lamp posts that are holding pink beautiful flowers. 3rd Floor (Art Studio) - The Art studio is beautiful too. Inside is a fire place that you can close and open. The studio is small but still very detailed. There is a thing to hold artwork; there's one piece of artwork in the holder. You can see the girl painting a picture with her unique paintbrush and her unique paint palette (a piece of wood with various of colors of paint on it). The girl seems to painting a bunch of random colors but if you were a mini figure it's probably beautiful artwork. Or it's something very abstract. The artwork studio has a door that opens out to the outside which you can go downstairs to the restaurant or apartment. The artwork studio is absolutely amazing and I love it so much. How you enter the artwork studio is you push down the back part of the 3rd floor and then you can see all what is happening inside which is a really nice feature. The outside door has a plant next to it, a lamp, and some yellow and white shades. There also are some red and green flowers at the bottom. The outside front of the building is absolutely amazing. It is so detailed that I was stunned with the build. On the bottom of the front are grey feathers which give a incredibly fancy and cool look. Up above are two circle details that are super fancy. There are white croissants on both sides of the build and a white seashell in the middle. These builds are super fancy and lovable. In the middle of the outside front are medical black windows and a white lamp-type thing on the top. Most of the front is made of smooth blue pieces moving down like a waterfall which gives it a very old-fashioned fancy look. It's a incredible look too! On the right side of the floor is the rest of the chimney. It has grey bricks and random small grey pieces. At the top of the chimney there is the classical top of a chimney with 4 grey cylinder pieces which resemble a chimney-top! So as you can see from the review this modular is amazing. When you put it all together the modular is fantastic and stunning. I could look at it 24/7 if I had the time. When you look at the back of the whole building it looks incredibly detailed too! It has so much to offer! Some people were wondering why this set is a little bit more expensive then your average LEGO Modular (Excluding the Town Hall) and the reason is because the set contains about 2500 pieces. If you think about it, the average $150 Modular set has 2000 to 2300 pieces but this one has more. So basically the set is $160 so its just $10 more for about 200-500 more pieces which is a incredibly good deal! And as everybody knows the modular sets are like expensive but they contain a whole lot of pieces compared to the average $10 equals 100 pieces type of thing. In my opinion, this is the best modular LEGO has ever made. It is a huge improvement compared to the older ones which were huge surprises too. What can I say; the LEGO Modular creators are getting better and better! This is a series, serious must buy for all advanced LEGO builders! IT is a absolutely incredible set! I recommend this set to everybody in the LEGO world who can build a big set and I hope you enjoy this magnificent masterpiece! 10/10

Nine pieces missing

I was so disappointed that there were nine pieces missing from my model. I have still not been able to finish it, as I'm waiting for Lego to send me the missing pieces.

Fall in Love with the Parisian Restaurant

By Thea

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243):

Wow, wow, WOW. The design and thought in this set are truly amazing. I really enjoyed the fun surprises in the restaurant, such as the tiled floor, kitchen storage, wine bar and curtains in the restaurant dining room. There were other thoughtful details such as the ground-level patio brick pattern and the crown molding underneath the restaurant trellis, only to be covered up by other parts, but it's that level of detail that made this set such a joy to build. One of my favourite unexpected parts was the dumpster in the back with the food scraps! That was a nice little discovery. I LOVE the art studio under the roof which seems like a perfect space to inspire an artist and includes storage for the extra canvas. The architectural details were fantastic to build and inspiring in their creativity, truly reminiscent of Parisian building facades. The way little portions of bricks stick out of the wall all around the building was a nice little touch to give the feel that this is an older building. Nearly everything is buildable, which is truly a feat by the designers of this set and (in my view), respectful of LEGO fans and Expert Builders. They could easily have made customized single large pieces for the architectural details, but they didn't. I'm so glad they put in the extra effort to create these designs using common pieces, which means you can replicate them on your own self-designed buildings. My only criticism with the design is the number of doors in the second floor apartment (three in total). I would have used a window instead of a balcony door in the kitchen to provide extra counter space or seating for my LEGO figure. If I had extra pieces, I would build some stairs at the back of the building to access the apartment instead of having the LEGO figure go through the busy rooftop patio to enter the apartment. Overall, I am very pleased with this set and it is the perfect start to my modular collection.

This was my very first lego modular building and I was very impressed. It looked great and has a very nice assortment of pieces. The one part that took me awhile was the putting the tile down in the beginning. Otherwise, awesome build!

my first Lego, I'm loving it!!!!!

Comments about LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243):

When I was little, I don't have Lego, but I love playing 1000+ piece puzzles. This Xmas I told my husband I need a BIG toy for Xmas. We were deciding between 2000+ pieces Lego and 500+. I'm glad we eventually purchased this nice restaurant set! It is not cheap but totally worth any penny! Later I did a bit research on Lego's product quality and competitors. I'm fully convinced that Lego makes the BEST block toys!

Birthday gift for 7 year old

By MiaCan

from Saint-Laurent

Comments about LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243):

My daughter just turned seven and I got this for her as a birthday gift. She has breezed through a number of the Lego Friends collections this summer managed to get through the Lego Architecture Berlin within 40 minutes... so for her birthday I wanted to get her something challenging. We ended up getting her a few of the Lego Creator models namely the VW Camper (16+), the Brick Bank (16+) and this Parisian Restaurant (16+). When asking the sales associate at the lego store which models would be the most interactive (as it seems she likes to play with the legos once she is done making them) the associate was a bit surprised that we were looking at these models for a child who was just turning seven. He insisted (although very politely) that this might be a bit too challenging for her and that unless an adult was making the lego and she was helping then it might end up being something that would end up frustrating the child more than anything else and we might end up having the puzzle set to the side without much interest. The sales associate was really very nice and looking out for our best interest and I did appreciate the honesty and candor. I did look through some of the models he suggested but honestly she has gone through 800+ piece legos within a few hours so they would have been somewhat boring and we were looking to challenge her. I figured we would get them anyways and if the challenge was too great we would set it aside for when she got just a little older. For the record, none of us help our seven year old with her legos. I for one have never even attempted to build one as the whole thing just looks like a very daunting task! The most I do is play the part of "the lovely assistant" as she calls me and demands that i sort the pieces by color... easy enough for me... I'm in! Then i sit there and watch her go! Well she got the legos for her birthday and the very next day she wanted to open this particular one. The Parisian Restaurant. For the first 10 minutes she looked at them, then she threw a mega hissy fit when she realized the instructions were not quite the same apparently as the Friends collections she had done in the past. She said the instructions were "like the architecture one"... if that makes any sense to anyone. I could not see what she was talking about. And then she was given the choice to set this lego set aside and to play with some of the other toys she had received at her birthday party (barbies and shopkins) or to move forward and try and figure it out. Within 15 minutes she was sorting through the plastic bags and inching her way towards building this set. She wanted me to be her "lovely assistant" and to "watch her make it" and so i sat there and sorted the different pieces by color and set them aside.... that was the ONLY assistance she got. Within the one day (this weekend) that she worked on it she finished bags numbered one and is almost done with bags numbered 2 and I cannot believe the ease with which she is going through it.... She oohs and awws about all of the little details and I took a look at what she has finished so far and it is IDENTICAL to what the pictures show on the instructions manual... She loves the detail and I have to say it is really very impressive. It comes with it's very own little grey rat! Oohhh la la! She still has a way to go and I will update as she finishes this set up and see what she likes and does not like about it... If someone could just guide me on an article that describes in detail the various collections of lego and what makes each of them different i would greatly appreciate that. I will let her get through the other models from this creator collection and build her little town (apparently these models all can be put one next to the other to create a little city) and in the meantime I will try and find something that will challenge her a little bit more... Not so much with the length of time... but rather the complexity of the instructions manuals... I liked it when i saw her have a mini meltdown regarding the fact that the instructions were not the same as the other ones she had done... I am looking for more of those kinds of reactions. I know... bad, bad mommy! But those meltdowns mean she is being somewhat challenged. Also how reliable are the ages on the boxes of lego? And does the challenge get greater as she goes from bag 1 to bag 2 to bag 3 to bag 4 or is the level of challenge within the same box the same... meaning.... if she got through bags 1 and 2 with zero problems does the difficulty level of this particular puzzle stay the same or does it get tougher as you near completion of the lego set? In any event... this is by far one of the legos that gave me the most fun to watch her make. The initial challenge... the frustration... the lightbulb moment... the enjoyment in watching her put the pieces together, the ease with which she does it and the enjoyment she gets are all worth the while! I would certainly recommend this set to anyone whose kid wants a lego and to any mom or dad who wants the lego to last longer than a few hours before being completed! Fun stuff! Love it! PS: I have added a picture that i took when she finished the first batch of bags with the number one on them...

    Parisian Restaurant

    By Samsam

    from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Creator Parisian Restaurant (10243):

I've been wanting to get this set for a long time and when I finally got it, I, fortunately, wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed building the whole thing with so many different pieces throughout the build. It incorporated some new and interesting techniques that I had wondered how to do. Once built the restaurant looks impressive with the red carpet leading to the door where the ChezAlbert sign hangs above. The building features not common colours with the olive-green of the walls and dark blue of the roof. I like the alfresco dining as it is nicely tucked away, creating some privacy. The inside is great as well. There is plenty of room to play on the ground floor with the dining area and fully-equipped kitchen. I really liked the blue curtains and all the different components that made up the kitchen, such as the fridge and sink. I also liked the 2nd-floor apartment and top floor artist's studio and found they suited the building. They had some cool features such as an opening fireplace, and a bed that can be tucked away. I liked the minifigures that went with the set, even though their expressions were all standard, and found that they complemented the set nicely. Overall, it has been worth the wait as this set as gone past my expectations. It is my fist modular building set and I think it will go well with my expanding city and Lego collection.
