I've used this bike for about a year now, and so far no complaints. I ride it everyday to and from work and on the weekends to save gas. It's 20" rims make it a breeze to handle and is much easier to pedal than the 16" Kent I had before (I sold it after getting this one). The Kent folding bike was lighter, but I only have to lift it into the trunk of my car, so no big deal. Brake levers are plastic, but still do the job. The rack in back comes in handy for errands to the store. Love the fenders! I don't ride in the rain much, but keeps me dry when riding over puddles. The low frame makes it easy to mount, but looks kind of girlie. It take about 7 seconds to fold/ unfold. Hinge is thick with a double lock mechanism. Similar 20" wheel folders from Giant and Dahon start at $399.99. You do get alloy this and aluminum that, but if you don't need it, why pay for it? Overall, worth every penny, and then some.

Comments about Pacific Cycle Schwinn Hinge 20 inch Folding Bike:

I bought this bike about 2 years ago. The primary reason was to commute to work from the assigned employee parking lot about half a mile+ away. It unfolds really easily and locks securely via the large "hinge" (hence the name, I suppose). Unfortunately, there is no way to secure the folded bike together, so be careful lifting it into and out of your car as it will unfold easily, as mentioned before. It rides well and the gearing is perfect for urban riding. Since this is a single speed bike, no hill climbing recommended. The 20" wheels make the ride smoother than other folding bikes. I've tried a Kent 16" and a Strida 16", both of which are rough riding and have a "twitchy" feel when steering. The only complaint would be the crank arms. They are made of chromed PLASTIC. Of all the things to be made out of plastic! I mean you pedal on these constantly! Although there are no signs of wear yet, I wonder how much more use these can take. I've owned square tapered alloy cranks which got rounded b/c of heavy use. Thank goodness I use this lightly. We'll see. So far, so good!

For the money it's a great take along bike.
Folds easy. Multi sizes (heights) in the family can ride with just a simple seat adjustment.
Could be just a bit lighter in weight.
