Although my baby girl is not here yet I think this changing table is going to be very useful. All the drawers and shelves will come in handy and I like the space on top for diapers and wipes. I also like that it can be just a dresser too. The only bad part was the assembly. It came in a million pieces and it took my husband and I forever to put this together, and we're pretty good at putting things together. Most steps were easy but time consuming and there were a few steps that were impossible, we had to modify them a bit for them to work. If you don't want to spend six hours putting this together I would not recommend it but if you don't mind being a little frustrated putting this together then it is worth it because the end result is pretty nice. But it is not a real wood product.

I love to assemble furniture so the idea and actual experience of putting the many pieces together, hand blisters notwithstanding, was not a deterrent going in or particularly upsetting after the experience. The picture of the finished product swayed me, as it undoubtedly did others, to buy this product. Once assembled, it fit very nicely in my baby, now toddler's room - thus the 2 stars. The reason why this product is not getting five stars ... a) As so many other reviewers have so truthfully indicated, it takes a long time to assemble and the number of pieces to put together are just too numerous, compared to other furniture pieces I have assembled so far. In my case it took over 2 weeks to assemble this product simply because two essential pieces were missing. This is not the first time it has happened to me with a South Shore product so one would think I would learn my lesson but I really wanted a white changing table and this seemed to fit the bill. I had to get in touch with the manufacturer, call every day to check it was in-transit since my child was due in a few weeks time and the items I was dreaming of putting in it were still sitting in their shopping bags. [...]. Inconvenient and a complete let-down experience. b) Not all holes are present on the pieces as they should have been or where they should have been. Instead of simple assembly, my husband and I found ourselves doing full carpentry work drilling holes and measuring where to put the holes on some of the pieces. c) Since I have used the assembled product for over a year now, I have a perspective on maintenance, for those enthusiasts who will still buy or just started using it. Be assured, that your work is not done after the initial assembly. The door, for example, will come out constantly so be ready to do a lot of hammering it back in place over the course of its use. Once your baby is a toddler, can walk and starts trying to open and close stuff, you may be highly tempted to just throw the door away completely or risk it crushing on his/her toes. Putting a safety latch is problematic because not only is there no clear area to actually put it or do so without marring the product, the structure is not sturdy enough to inspire confidence that it can withhold any additional hammering job since just hammering in the door makes the side of the whole structure loose. For some reason, the door just does not stay put and it was the case for us, as it was for other reviewers, that getting it in right the first time was an issue. Our latest attempt to keep the door intact longer and safe around our toddler was to put super glue in the holes before hammering it in; however since the glue dried up too quickly before we could hammer the door in all the way, it is skewed. Next time the door falls out, we have agreed to simply dispose of the whole product permanently. Overall summary: good-looking product for a baby's nursery but not good quality enough to make it worth the upfront effort of assembly AND required maintenance to keep it safe for use over any significant period of time. Good luck.

I LOVE My Changing Table!

By Bea

from Pennsylvania

Comments about South Shore Furniture South Shore Cotton Candy Changing Table - Pure White:

Got this item as a gift from my baby registry. It didn't arrive in a damaged box like most peoples problem, but beware, it's VERY HEAVY! Everything was perfect. The only thing is that the directions are very confusing. Took us almost the whole day.. and we didn't get to fully finish it because there was a small crack on the bottom piece. We called customer service and they were great! They shipped us a new piece right away! I love it because once she's old enough not to need a changing station, we can easily remove it and keep the table as her own drawer =)

Hmm.. Slight Regret?

By KR

from Virginia

Comments about South Shore Furniture South Shore Cotton Candy Changing Table - Pure White:

Okay, so first I should say if you purchase this, your gonna need to contact South Shore Customer Service. The good part? The customer service reps there are extremely nice and responsive and we never had to wait long on the phone.

The instructions are wrong. Pieces are mislabeled. We currently have 2 pieces missing pieces and 1 damaged piece that customer service is sending us replacements for. My husband is beyond frustrated trying to assemble this with the instructions and part numbers being incorrect. (Small things like mislabeling how many door knobs you need. They give 7 but list you need 8. Even the picture only shows 7).

We purchased this because it matched the color of the rest of our nursery furniture. I can't recommend it even if I think it looks nice, because there are so many issues building it.

Comments about South Shore Furniture South Shore Cotton Candy Changing Table - Pure White:

Box came in as if it went through a war..... about 4-5 major pieces inside were broken and customer service tried to blame shipping company but the box looked like it's been sitting on a warehouse for years!! was supposed to put together before Memorial day weekend but due to these broken parts we have to wait until after the weekend and even though the tracking number said we would have it before hand.....buyer be aware.

          Horrible Purchase

          By Momofone

          from Wisconsin

Comments about South Shore Furniture South Shore Cotton Candy Changing Table - Pure White:

I received this changing table with its matching dresser as a gift for my new babys room. The changing table took 6 hours to put together, but I loved the way it looked. However when I recieved it, it had a huge crack across the top. Kept it anyway because the changer covered most of it. After having used it for about two weeks, the door kept constantly falling off. No matter how gently I open and close the door about once a week it falls off. The dresser legs themselves are not as sturdy as you would hope. We moved it from one room to the next, and the leg snapped on half. We had to nail it back on and I pray every time I use it that it's not going to snap again. Also the wood on the changer has started to warp and scratches easily. It is an adorable changing table and dresser, but overall it is a horrible buy and I am so happy I didn't purchase this myself because it is way too expensive for such bad quality.

If you are NEVER going to move this table, its perfect. At any time something falls behind the table, you have to move it to get it back, and each time I move it, the legs get more damaged. Also, assembly is pretttttty complicated ! I LOVE how the diapers are right next to me and there is a storage area for wipes and creams. I love the pull out drawers located inside the door and also, the other 3 drawers are nice and deep. But, i didnt like the quality too much since the door always comes undone, and the legs are breaking apart (maybe I didnt assemble properly?? But I did do my best). My son is 13 months and I STILL USE THE CHANGING TABLE =)

Box was extremely heavy and dresser is good quality. A little disappointed that the corners of some of the pieces were slightly damaged. They charged a mandatory $50 shipping surcharge because of the weight of the dresser but given that charge it would have been nice if the box and dresser were not damaged in transit. Overall a good purchase but again slightly upset with the damaged pieces.
