I used this (white) x-plorer for 12 hours approx. and the ribbon inside the neck wore thru which ended up making the frets keydown by themselves in-game. I could goto GH3 main menu and just barely wiggle the guitar or flick it or tap it one time on the case and it will act up and advance thru the menus because it makes green button go crazy and also the blue button a little less randomly than green.
I hardly used the thing, i stored it upright and in a child free area, it wasn't stepped or sat on or twisted out of anger or attempted to be snapped in half out of anger, it was played about 1 hour each time, 12 different sessions, very gently used.

I took it apart and observed the folded in half ribbon cable that goes from fret down thru screwed together neck casing into the body.
The ribbon was crimped between the two sharp pieces of fret (black) arm body plastic. Where the plastic fret cover mounted over the top of the ribbon; it's too tight of a gap and it crimped the wires just enough to make them cut just enough to make it go haywire.

I knew before opening it that is must have been a short in the ribbon due to it keying down by itself. So i began by observing the ribbon and that was the problem.

I feel like i been ripped off because i haven't gotten much use out of it at all and i will never buy another product from red octane or activision after observing how they put their products together in such a poor manor.
The solder is sloppy, 2 screws in the tip of the fret handle were stripped, the solder protectant is everywhere, the wires are poor quality. The gap isn't big enough for a folded or even single layer ribbon to exit the handle into the guitar body (needs to be modified manually and ribbon replaced) Probably every model is the same twisted ribbon (double layer) because there is a screw hole nearby that the ribbon can't fit around unless it's folded in half.

So far i have spent 5 dollars for T10 StarDriver to open the case. Now i am going to have to spend a few hours to melt the wire out and re-solder a new one in place.

I notice this guitar is around ten bucks these days and i should just go buy a new one but that one will also have this same problem i assume and i told myself i will not buy another product from activision or red octane due to how they release products to us well paying consumers.

I use this guitar to play any and all of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. This is one of the few guitars that is compatible with all of the games. It is also the most durable guitar I have used so far. Some may not be comfortable with the short neck and the fact that it is still a wired guitar and not wireless like newer products.

I purchased the guitar so that my grandson would have an additional guitar for friends to play. It is a lot smaller than I expected. However for the price, I would purchase it again. I would recommend it to a friend with the caveat that the size of the guitar is small.

This guitar is all we need! We never experienced any trouble with it and it was ready to go...no assembly required! I was thrilled with the price and the kids enjoyed the stickers they sent with it to put on the guitar! We love it!

For the price it is a good guitar. Great if you need a spare guitar to play with a friend when they visit. Compared to the newer guitars the clicking sound of the strum bar can be a little annoying unless you turn up the music. I prefer the shape of this guitars to others. It rests much more comfortably on your side. The sticker pack that comes with the guitar has plenty of options for customizing the guitar. Overall it is well worth the price.
