Touted as Jerry Seinfeld's first major project since the 1998 end of his long-running eponymous TV series, 2007's computer-animated BEE MOVIE stars the popular comedian as the voice of Barry B. Benson, a young bee eager to explore the world outside of his hive. As he discovers how people live in New York City, he befriends a human florist, Vanessa Bloome, and becomes outraged at the selling of honey, leading to a lawsuit and, of course, plenty of Seinfeldian misadventures. Helmed by directors Steve Hickner and Simon J. Smith, BEE MOVIE lightens Seinfeld's notoriously stinging humor for a family audience, while staying true to its inherent New York-bred quirkiness. This leaves room for the film to feature impressive bug-oriented CGI animation and a solid supporting cast that includes Rene Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Chris Rock, and Ray Liotta. Although it inhabits some of the same insect-populated territory as A BUG's LIFE and ANTZ, BEE MOVIE also nods to THE GRADUATE in its restless protagonist, resulting in a playful and thoroughly entertaining film that even manages to work an environmental message into its colorful palette.

This is a fantastic entertaining movie (visually beautiful,upbeat, imaginative backdrop)and actually extremely educational-our children had no idea how much they were learning... to say the age is 10 and up is extremely misleading. Our triplet children learned alot educationally from this movie at the age of 3.5 years old while laughing the whole way thru. They know now the importance of bees in the world. How fruit, vegetables, and flowers are dependent on bees. That bees are very good and not to be bothered but simply left alone, etc.,etc. There are no "scary parts" so the typical "evil vs. good" themes you get in many of the "other" themed movies are not a part of this movie at all. My one daughter who is sensitive to those themes loved this movie and not once did she watch it by peeking over the couch as she does on other movies we view for the first time. I highly recommend it. Your kids are clueless that they are being taught such a beautiful educational nature/science lesson watching it! And Jerry Seinfeld humor to boot for the adults- you cannot get any better!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
