The First Act Discovery Designer Junior Tambourine is a top-quality percussion instrument. The 6-inch diameter tambourine is built with a solid all-natural wood shell. The tambourine has silkscreen graphics on the head and comes with 4 sets of secured metal jingles that provide a crisp ringing sound.

I purchased this for my two sons (2,4) because they love music. It was cheap but seemed high quality. The head is only made of thin paper and ripped within a few uses (appropriate uses at that). The product must be made differently than it was before based on the other review. Be careful if purchasing new. May not last.

Comments about First Act 1001245 First Act Junior Tambourine:
I got this for my toddler because his aunt is a musician and he loved hers. I was sceptical at first if it would hold up with his rough play, but Itsa hearty little toy! Sounds like the real thing and is totally cute. Will buy more products like this for sure. Especially if they're this well priced.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

cheap cover, good frame
By can't find better
from citrus heights, CA
As mentioned in the title, basically the tambourine sounds good and has a nice wood frame, but a cheap covering stretched over it. It's meant for younger children so I feel like this makes the product mostly worthless, since I would expect any kid at any age will eventually use an implement of some kind to play the tambourine. Within three swings of a plastic hand broom my toddler punched through the plastic covering. I know he's younger than the intended crowd, but kids only get stronger and wilder so far as I've seen. Anyway, I figured we'd put cheesecloth over it later, but it's unusable until then because the plastic covering was holding in the pins for the metal clackers, so I can't just let him play with it coverless. Overall I'm disappointed for what I payed, but I will keep it and just modify it since I've found nothing better.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

In 2 minutes it was already torn. Will be taking it back and hoping the store stands behind it. For $9 not worth it!

About Me Education Oriented, Parent Of Two Or More Children
My kids fancy themselves as mini musicians, or at least noisemakers. They love this instrument, as it is easily playable and makes a nice sound. It looks like the real thing. The best thing about the toy is that it is sturdy. My kids don't always place things down on the ground nicely, and this seems to hold up well despite the throws and drops.
Great size for little hands

Perfect size for 2 year old grandson who loves music. Plays tambourine at home and At church. Once the music starts he picks up his tambourine and plays keeping perfect timing. Love the color. Durable , stylish, lightweight, and good sound.
