My 2-year-old loves it.

My daughter got her first Play-Doh sets for Christmas. This one, and the kitchen, are her favorites. There are certainly things that could be improved, but overall she loves it.

I actually find it easy to clean, all you have to do is take a small glob of play-doh and use it to catch all the stray play-doh. Or wait 'til it dries (doesn't take long) and shake it off.

The miniature cups and cones were a big hit, also the sprinkle maker was probably my daughter's favorites.

The extraction process is a bit difficult for young children, but I find that true for most Play-Doh sets. I always play with my daughter, so it's not a huge issue since I simply do it for her.

I would have liked to see the cake area developed more fully. Perhaps being able to be removed. Also, I loved all the molds, but I'd almost prefer they be separate from the "machine", per se. It can get a bit much when one child is trying to make ice cream, and another is trying to use the molds.

My daughter (age 6) has really been enjoying the Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe since she received it for Christmas. I think the concept is great, but the execution is rather flawed:

-the Play-Doh squelches through the sides of the "dispenser" unit when my child is pressing the lever to fill the cones/sundae dishes with "ice cream". I've found that we have to peel the wasted Play-Doh off of the side of the dispenser and shove it back into the receptacle so that there is enough Play-Doh to make a full "serving".

-the "stencil" that is used for the dispenser unit is affixed to the toy and not removable. The Play-Doh collects underneath the stencil and there is no way to clean it short of using a toothpick to scrape it out.

-the sprinkle making unit is difficult to operate. You have to unscrew the top, pack the Play-Doh in, then re-install the top properly, then turn the handle to make the sprinkles. The sprinkles literally fly all over the place, (which my daughter thinks is hilarious). There are lots of cracks/crevices/holes in which the Play-Doh becomes trapped and again, you have to go digging to remove the Play-Doh bits.

-the "topping" maker is also difficult to operate. It takes a good deal of force to make anything come out.

-you cannot remove the dispenser/sprinkle maker/topping maker from the base once they've been installed, which makes the unit rather bulky and difficult to store.

-I've found that when my daughter plays with this toy, I have to be nearby helping her operate the various components, and I have to go mining to clean the many cracks, crevices, and holes in which the Play-Doh becomes trapped during the course of her play. This is definitely not a toy that she can play with by herself.

Despite these shortcomings, my daughter does enjoy this toy, and I have to admit that I enjoying playing with it with her, too. I just wish it were easier to operate and less of a pain to clean, and it would be perfect!

      My three year old daughter was given this as a Christmas present. I'm sorry to say it is a pretty rubbish product! The playdough doesn't go through the dispensers properly and what you end up with looks nothing like it does on the box. Its very difficult for my daughter to do it herself. The playdough gets stuck inside the dispensers and then goes hard so becomes even more difficult to use properly. I myself find it really difficult to use properly. I've been really disappointed in it, but my daughter still really likes to play with it even though it doesn't work properly. I think an older child would be really disappointed with this product. Also, homemade playdough is so much better than this stuff :-)

        This product us horrible! I got it for Christmas and the toy doesn't work. The DOH doesn't come out of the leaver and the sprinkles go everywhere. My toy didn't even come with all the pieces! As a kid, I would warn you, NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT!

          This product doesn't work well at all. The play doh doesn't go through the machine well and it def doesn't look like ice cream. Comes out more like [*] unfortunately.               Bought this for my 3 year old. She is not strong enough to push any levers to get the play doh out, so I have to do it. It does not come out looking like the box at all. The sprinkles scatter every where. And it is a mess to clean up. Because it's cheaply made, play doh squeezes out the sides and gets in to cracks and crevices, so we had to use a tooth pick and screwdriver to get it all out. And still couldn't get it from everywhere. Very unhappy!

              Tons of fun with the little one. I don;t think you could ever go wrong with Play-Doh. My 2.5 year old had a blast and was able to use everything after we showed him a couple of times. Some things he needed some help with because it required a stronger hand but otherwise, everything was great. Worth the money...sure!

                My 4.5 yr old got this for Xmas and is having a ball serving up all sorts of yummy treats for us. Not only does he love mixing and making things with the Play-Doh, but also has been doing lots of imagintive, make-believe play by playing "ice cream store," and "Good Humor Man" by taking orders, creating new flavors and "selling" us his desserts.

                This is lots of fun and the few "press pumps" in this Play-Doh set are easier to clean that past ones we have had which is a plus for mom!

                    Looks like it would be fun, but this ice cream maker is very messy, hard to use for a 3 year old and the ice cream does not come out looking how they advertise it on the box or tv. Daughter & her cousins lost interest and refused to play with it!

                      this is a great time consuming toy. The kids played with it for hours. It was endless fun. I have not tried the home made play dough in it yet, but we will see how well it works. In the end the kids loved making all kinds of fun.

                      My kids do enjoying playing with this toy, however, the mess is really scattered. The sprinkly maker forms little tiny play doh sprinkles that spray as your turn the crank. If you have a place that such a mess is okay, I would recommend it. Outside is good too :) This toy also has a lot of peices and parts to it.
