I think the reviews giving high marks are coming from people who didn't actually try the product, but gave it as a gift or liked the idea.
I bought this for a family Christmas present. I recently taught my five year old how to play Checkers and Backgammon. I thought this might provide a good deal of entertainment.
How the product is displayed on the box is highly misleading. I was looking forward to handling nice wooden checkers, rolling a standard size pair of dice, and playing a game of Chinese Checkers.
- Nothing in here is made of wood. Pressed cardboard and cheaply molded light weight plastic.
- All the pieces are too light weight and small. When attempting to move a peg on Chinese checkers adjacent pegs fall over as they are poorly designed, don't fit snuggly into the holes, top heavy and difficult to pickup, too close to one another so that you can't get your fingers around them making the game unplayable.
- Checkers/Backgammon pieces are not heavy enough to stay in place and move with the slightest bump or breeze.
- No divider for parts storage as displayed on the box.
- Mancala, nice idea but way too small. Might as well use sand in an ice cube tray.

My In-Laws got this as a gift for my son's sixth birthday. On the package it looks like you get wooden boards, pegs for the Chinese Checkers and a case with compartments to hold everything. But you don't! You get cheap cardboard game boards, cheesy plastic pieces and no compartments. That means that playing Chinese Checkers is virtually impossible (don't breathe - you may move the pieces!) and actually keeping the pieces once the little plastic bags are opened is almost as impossible.

I am returning this item today!

When my son opened the box to play the chess game with me he told me there were three bishops and no queens!!But in all the game was pretty good.
