Before I type anything else, I would like to say, I love this little set. I have a few niggles with it, but in general, I am very impressed with it. One niggle is the one common to Star Wars Lego - cost vs pieces. This would have been good value at £10, but the extra couple of pounds make it a little expensive for what you get. Another pedantic niggle is that these are not really Death Star Troopers - we have two Royal Guards, and two Imperial Gunners. The Royal Guards were previously hard to find except in expensive sets, and the Gunner helmet and face are brand new. The Royal Guards are slightly different to the previous releases, with a snazzy two colour cloak, and dark red arms that really give them a bit of a visual lift. Their weapons (force rods?) are a bit rubbish, and a black sabre hilt might have been a better choice, although I can see that might have confused them as being a weird grey lightsabre! The helmets have a higher level of finish to them than the previous release as well, although the torso printing is the same. Their cloaks have a darker red side as well as the red shown on the box art - another nice little touch that lifts them a little from the earlier release. The gunners are lovely - the helmets are well designed to look lego-y enough and still detailed. The heads have two great distinct faces - one looks uncertain, the other looks slightly worried - possibly very useful in a diorama although they have microphones printed on as well, which might take a little away from their usefulness. Front, back and legs are nicely printed and really look the part. The new flick guns are great fun, although personally I prefer the shape of the more "authentic" styled blasters, these flick a stud a surprising distance, and really evoke the fun of the early sets and the Star Wars Lego games. I can see these being popular with some AFOL who are not after accuracy, but being very popular with children! The laser cannon is a nice little version of the gun, with a good flick mechanism that propels the missile a good distance. There are enough parts to allow a swivel to the gun if you want to mount it, and don't mind a fixed seat. It has a good number of useful parts including a SNOT block I had not seen before - it has four SNOT bricks in total, which I know are now more common in small sets, but this could be a solid base for some very interesting field cannons... I think this might even end up on an ADU HQ... It might have been a little more useful as an army builder with Death Star Troopers rather than the Royal Guard, especially as the troopers are unique to the Tie Fighter sets, but the included figures are great, and will enhance your Death Star or Imperial dioramas.

Pros: - You can get some hard to get figures. Some guards of Palpatine and some death star troopers. - You get some of the new blasters. Cons: - Don't buy the whole set just for the blasters, they are already else where, and soon enough everywhere. - The helmets are somehow not usualbe with the old ones...? Looks strange if you look from the side, at least for me. - Again, not much more than a flick-fire missile to high up the playability. - The swords are no swords. You (really) need imagination. --> The price!!!!!!!!!! 17 € for that?? Let's take a look. 100 pieces, 10 are just little, red, fire pieces. 4 figures. The black figures (including head) are not exclusive (see also microfighter-star destroyer), exactly the same both, and in the future, we'll probably get even more of them. But okay, printing on the legs and on the back are cool extras. Twice the same head. The red figures are a joke. The parts are not new, no printing on the back, same on the front, no printing on the legs and just black heads. That's it. The typiccal answer for the price, is that it is LEGO, and before everything, SW. I can't believe it here; I'll just say LEGO set 70400. 4 figures. 4 different heads (not here), 4 different printing on the front (not here), 4 different printing on the back (not here) and 4 different helmets (again, not here). + a dog (could represent the blasters here). And lot's of pieces, including weapons. --> I can't understand why the quality is (likes me) here worse than a non-SW set, but the price, increased by 70 % ?? Almost twice as expensive? tldr; For me, this set is lots too expensive for what it represents. 50 % price off would be nice to begin speaking about. It would still stay very expensive (for my point of view).

Cool Minifigs, good for army building
Comments about LEGO Star Wars Death Star Troopers (75034):
The Death Star Troopers are a nice little set for expanding your imperial army with some rather rare minifigures. The Death Star Gunners have a really amazing looking helmet design and the Imperial Guards are very cool looking guys too. Just a pity that they come with black heads under their cloaks - unlike the gunners which have the familiar fleshy-coloured heads. The new guns are a bit chunky but i guess they are the smallest possible way to make them actually firing (which is pretty cool) - so from a playability point of view - they make totally sense. The swords of the imperial guard look a bit like low-cost lightsabers. Not the best choice of design. The large turbo-laser gun is easy to assemble, rather light and looks pretty much like the one in Episode IV. Just a pity that you have to turn the base to rotate it horizontally. Also the missile it is supposed to shoot doesn't really flies far, it rather plops out of its support and falls to the ground - no surprise they lost the war ;-) All in all it is a quite good set, which really lives from its cool minifigures. They look really outstanding and very close to the films. The price could be a little lower for a 100 pieces set though.

Good set for army or scene building, but the capes are made out of paper with no finish or film over them at all like the others.
Great battle pack!
I really enjoyed this set with the new death star gunner and two royal guard The new blasters are Honestly really cool and you have to watch out so you don't lose any of the studs. I really enjoyed this set Because of the minifigures and the laser gun terrant. I also think that using this set with other battle backs such as the kashyyyk troopers is a really fun thing to do.
My First Battle Pack of 2014
I got this set around March or so. But let's skip this rigamoroll and cut to the chase. The cannon is a redesign of the one that can be found in the Death Star set. Unlike the old one, this one just has a flick-fire missile instead of the large spring-loaded rubber-tipped missile. The cannon is nicely sized; it's slightly longer than the one from the Elite Clone Troopers Battle Pack from 2012 but it's a bit narrower. It can move up and down but it cannot turn. It has some nice new pieces in it as well. In the eyes if many collectors, the figures really make or break a set. These figures are top-notch. The never-before-seen Death Star Gunner figs (the Death Star Troopers are different; see the 2012 TIE Fighter for one) are amazing. The helmet is brand-new, the torso is similar to the Death Star Trooper, and two different heads are used for the two figures. The Royal Guard figs are amazing. They have their special helmets, two-toned capes, and nice red robes. Their heads are same black pieces the Royal Guard figs have always had. The price, to me (Cheapy the Cheapskate), is a little high for a set like this, but I guess the planet sets and Microfighters have taken over the $10 lineup. To conclude, this is a great set to have to play with or to put on a shelf. I would absolutely recommend is set to a friend!
Before I talk about this set in particular, I just wanted to say how happy I am about Lego going back to the standard 4 minifigure battle pack. The 2 bad guy-2 good guy sets were ok, but these help build an army much larger, with less sets purchased. This set is very cool, and the minifigures are amazing. I have always wanted a Royal Guard, but I wasn't able to ever get one until now. But, these are much better than the originals. The dark red arms make the minifigure much more movie accurate, and the 2 color cape is very cool. The weapon dosen't look very much like the one from the movie, but I guess it is an improvement from the black spear they originally had. The Death Star gunners are very cool; I like the details on the legs and helmet. And it was surprising to find that they each had a different face. I liked that quite a bit. And the new guns, although pretty fat, are pretty cool as well. They have definatly grown on me since they were released. The main build is pretty nice; bigger than I expected. It was surprisingly movie accurate, but it dosent do much more than spin, go up and down, and shoot a flick-fire missile. But, it looks nice. So overall, I would give this set a 9/10.
Good, Solid OT Battlepack
from Las Vegas
This set is a must get for any OT fan. The figures, the Death Star gunner and Imperial Royal Guard, though nothing special, are great figs that any OT fan will appreciate. Honestly, I think that the gun is a bit small and whimpy, but its a battlepack, so what would you expect. The only other thing is that this is a battlepack and we want to build armies, and who wants 30 Royal Guards and 30 Death Star Gunners, but nonetheless, it is really cool to get these great figures in a cheap way. Overall, good set to get 1 or 2 of
LEGO Death Star Troopers
This is a very good set. The Imperial Guards are new with better shadings and a better staff. The Death Star Gunners (not Death Star Trooper) are brand new and completely exclusive to this set in specific. They have new helmet molds with a nice detail of torso. The set itself, the turret, is okay. In size, it is regular. It fits one gunner only and can only move up or down. With a rotating piece (not featured in set) you could mount the turret onto the piece and have it move 360 degrees around. Now to the Pros and Cons Pros: - Gunner helmet - 2 Imperial Guards - 2 Death Star Gunners - Set is fairly detailed with no stickers Cons: - New gun pieces (Bring back the old ones!) - Can only move up or down. - Flick fire missles. I like the missles, however it would be better to see the new "spring-loaded missles" as an add-on to this set's features.
I think this set is good for the figures and the stationary gun. The stationary gun could have used a little more thought when it came to the design but over all it is a good piece. 1 imperial guard and 3 gunners would have been better. The imperial guard could have been better with a force pike and a real head. The "new" personal guns that shoot are a massive let down. As if Legos aren't hard enough to keep track of keeping the pips together with these guns is a nightmare. I just haven't shown my kids that they fire pips and keep them put up. We use out imagination instead and it works just fine. The stationary gun is best constructed with out the lower 2 missiles installed. Adding a 2x1 with vertical clips to hold the additional 2 missiles would have been better looking and more functional. All and all good for army building (although a little top heavy with 2 imperial guards) and good for play.
Death Star Troopers
from Fuquay Varina
This set is spectacular! I was so glad when it came out. It has the new death star gunner minifgure and the redesigned red guard. Both of them are incredibly detailed and movie accurate. Pros: -sweet mini figures -cool gun Cons: -new blasters have a cool function but don't look cool -the price of the battle packs is slowly increasing Overall, it is a good set with cool mini figures and an accurate gun turret.
this set is one of the best battle packs in years. it gives the red guards only available in the death star or much older retired sets. the death star gunners are wonderful too great helmets. the cannon itself is really cool nice look not much to say but don't get me wrong its worth the cash!
