Product Description

Build a LEGO brick model of this famous modernist-style country house residence! Situated on the outskirts of Paris, France Villa Savoye was designed by Le Corbusier in the 1920s as the perfect embodiment of Le Corbusier's 'Five Points' construction principles. This fusion of modern architecture and nature was intended to create harmony with Villa Savoye's woodland surroundings. Just like the real thing, this set features columns, functional roof space, open floor planning, long horizontal windows, and a free fa ade. This LEGO Architecture series interpretation of Villa Savoye was designed by German architect Michael Hepp in collaboration with the LEGO design team.

Just finished putting together this set and it looks great. With a relatively square shape with curved elements, the Villa Savoy definitely sticks out compared to the other detailed Architect series house. It was a fun build, but since the majority of the set is white and features the thinner bricks, it required an eye for detail, as it was easy to miss a piece here or there and place it in the wrong spot. Thankfully the set came with a brick separator that came in quite handy a few times. Since it used the smaller pieces, my fingers were definitely hurting by the end from snapping them into place. Overall I am very pleased with this set and is a great addition to the Architecture series.

I bought this as a gift for my Dad who is older and needs things to do in his retirement. The pieces were too small for him to handle. There are also a lot of small red and blue pieces that are bult into the model but in the end you don't see them because they are covered with the other bricks. For the price paid, the model should be bigger. The architecture series would be better if the pieces were bigger. This would give my Dad and maybe other older people a nice side hobby.

Creative and very true to life

Comments about LEGO Architecture Villa Savoye (21014):

This is a difficult building to execute - not only architecturally to begin with, but also difficult to model. I thought that the LEGO team did an excellent job of representing the original structure and an admirable job of incorporating the really distinctive nature of it - meaning the contrast between hard corners/lines and more organic curves and the open nature of much of the structure. There a few complaints I have that have nothing to do with LEGO. I sometimes feel like this architect's buildings are a bit too simple/modern, and the all white/clear motif can get a bit tiring to build in terms of repetition. That said, I'm definitely glad that I have it; it offers a good start into the "artsy" types of architecture sets before dropping the money necessary for Fallingwater, etc.

Fantastic Savoye

Comments about LEGO Architecture Villa Savoye (21014):

This is my 16th Model that I have completed in the Lego Architecture range. I am not disappointed to say the least... Villa Savoye is a delightful model very strikingly similar to the real building in France. As a big fan of Architecture and a fan of Le Corbusier being a pioneer of modern architecture, this is an addition that I had to have. The Box was actually bigger than I expected and the size of the model is also well proportioned throughout. The building is in 2 stages, the base inclusive of the support pillars then the upper building itself. The design is fantastic, especially making use of the upper curved sections of the building. Very clever! There is a hole in the top part of the building to slot onto the base section and with a firm push, the building comes together beautifully. The finished look is absolutely true to the real building and looks fantastic alongside the range I have already built. The Lego Box and booklet are of the usual high standard and contains very interesting facts of the building as well as step by step instructions. Very detailed throughout, concentrations levels need to by good otherwise it will not go together well. Excellent value for money in my opinion and a great model overall, love it! Well done Lego!

Great showpiece

Comments about LEGO Architecture Villa Savoye (21014):

Great fun building, it was my first Lego set in a very long time. It looks great on my desk, though my only complaint is that I wish it was a bit larger. Maybe 1.5 times its current size. I understand architecture models are supposed to be small scaled models, but I wouldn't mind if the architecture series got a large or very large (UCS level size) set on it. Overall though, a fun build with a great looking end product! Fully recommended!

Wonderful detail that remains true to the actual look of the building. These modern buildings really lend themselves to Lego construction. This is one of my favorite Lego. Simple build with great results.

Villa Savoye

Comments about LEGO Architecture Villa Savoye (21014):

I love you guys. This is my fifth build from the Architecture Series. It's like you've recaptured my imagination. I liked the two part construction and the inventive use of bricks, and angles. The only issue I have is that the tope doesn't quite fit on the bottom. Either the alignment is slightly off or I messed something up. It fit's just not as tightly as I'd like. I look forward to more of these models adorning my shelves! Thank you again,

Good, but not the best

Comments about LEGO Architecture Villa Savoye (21014):

Although I admire the flawless architecture of Le Corbusier, I was exited to get this product. The experience was average and a bit boring as almost everything is the same. It is a good piece to put on you desk and I will recommend this one to architecture enthusiasts and modernism fans.
