We got this for our 2 year old for X-mas. He was overjoyed and it didn't take long for him to understand how to push trains around track after we modeled it for him. We did take away smaller pieces (streetlights, trees) when he was teething because he wanted to chew on them, but now that's over with he can now use the table with minimal supervision. Definitely needs to be rated 3 and up due to choking hazard, but supervision fixes this issue. It took about 2 hours for my husband and I to assemble, but worth the effort and all parts fit. Overall, I'd say that you get your money's worth out of this table. All parts are nicely detailed and look appealing.

Pros: Great value for the money, kid LOVES itCons: Long (but straightforward) assembly, not as nicely detailed as Thomas setsI was looking for a b-day present for our 3yo son who loves trains, and, when I saw this set at local Toys-R-Us on sale at [$] I picked it up on an impulse.When I got home and read some of the negative reviews posted here, I started having second thoughts about it - I should not have had. The people who complained about difficult assembly and mis-aligned drawers (some even went as far as re-drilling their sets) must have hit the eggnog a day too early.The assembly is long - it took me ~4hrs to assemble the table and set up the tracks - but it is VERY straightforward, as long as you pay attention to the manual. All the pieces fit together great, and no parts were missing - even though the product came in what seems like a thousand pieces that all had to be assembled together.Did I mention my son LOVES this set?

We love this train set! Hours and hours of endless play. Well worth the price.[...] However, although easy to put together, would not recommend putting together after a long days work at 10pm :)

A very nice table when you finally get it together. It's very stable and our 19 month old child loves it.
One thing on assembly. I put a ton of stuff together and usually don't have problems, but the directions are pretty bad. There are probably a 100 pieces, and just one pictorial type diagram for instructions. Some pictures are just to vague, so my guess is - you have a 50/50 shot at getting some of the parts together the first time. Some steps are kind of a guess, which may require you to unscrew a few things and reassemble. Some reviews said they had to drill extra holes, or that there wasn't center support. They just assembled it wrong (remember, invert it or flip it over). It's hard to explain, but expect some minor challenges. Even if you build houses for a living you may have issues. It really is a matter of luck at some points, and you don't realize until later on. Overall, a nice table and a great value since it comes with all the trains and tracks. It is a bit noisy. I may put tape over some of the bells and whistles. Overall, I am happy with the choice.

For all the people leaving bad reviews and saying this table is "flimsy" you must have made the mistake of installing the middle piece upside down. It is true...it is a little overwhelming at first to assemble, but take other customers advice and lay out all the pieces. Be extra careful with "K". (Thanks to Skeptical Dad on 1/1/10) It's easy if you read and go slow. It only took my husband 2 hours with the table and track. It is sturdy, fun, and wonderful. The drawers are great and hold a lot of stuff!! All his plastic and die cast Thomas trains fit in the drawers with room to spare. I also read the ladie's review that said she was a bit of a brand snob and had to laugh...as am I!! But I am sooooooooo glad we did not spend all that money on the Thomas sets. This is perfect and you know, the little guy could care less if Thomas is on the side of the table or not!! He loves it just the same!! And we love it even more!! It's great for his imaginative play.
Overall, we are very happy and would definitely recommend this product to anyone!!

This train table was my son's Christmas present. He has played with it every day since Christmas. A little trouble setting up but we figured it out, it is an excellent price for all that you get and your little ones will get tons of hours of enjoyment out of it. I definitely recommend this train table. He's asking me to go play with him as I type lol.

I put the table together and then realized something wasn't right. The middle was really sagging. After doing research and learning from TX man about flipping the K piece I was able to go back and do it. Now the table is sturdy and will work beautifully.

The toy was easy to assemble but very big! It has kept my 3 year old occupied so much that I can hardly get him to leave his room. We do have to constantly put the tracks back together because they come apart too easily. Make sure you get the replacement plan because the building in the front where it has the seats; the seats fell off before he even played with it. Other than that, every child that comes to my house ranges from 3 to 12 and they all love playing with the train. It's also a great toy that the parents can play and interact with their child.

The worst thing was putting the table together. One piece was drilled wrong, so I had to tap new holes. It took us 3 hours to assemble. But as a plus, the instructions were good.
My son loves the sounds embedded into the tracks. The trains do derail easily, but hey, this is a toddler toy, not a professional model train setup. It doesn't bother my son at all...he thinks it's all part of the fun. Comes with a nice variety of trains, track shapes, and accessories. Not a day has gone by since Christmas that my son has not spent at least an hour playing with his choo-choos.
