Here's a handsome addition to the Lionel Polar Express product line - an exquisitely crafted G-Gauge train set that can be run on rechargeable battery technology. You can operate this train using a 9.6 volt rechargeable battery (not included) or use six conventional C batteries (which are included) - it's your choice! The set also comes with an easy-to-operate RC remote controller (with two AA batteries included). But what sets this set apart is the unmatched craftsmanship. The engine and tender have details never before seen in a G-Gauge format. The observation car has an endearing "disappearing hobo" feature. All of this is available at an unbelievably affordable price. The Polar Express G-Gauge Train Set includes:

Just wanted to give some helpful hints. We have owned this train for 3 years my family really loves it the sounds are exactly from the movie, and the little figures are adorable. That being said each time we set it up for Christmas we try to make it more durable. 1. Zip ties and painters tape! We use small black zip ties to keep the track together, it takes a little time to get them all on and cut the extra but what a life saver, I've got a 3 and 5 year old and 2 dogs. Inevitably one of them would step on the track on push it and then the track would come apart. This solves the first problem. we also have hardwood floors so the track kept sliding when knocked into. So we put a little painters tape up and down on a few of the railroad ties around the track. This prevents the slipping. 2. Zip tie the couplings to each other. When the train gets knocked off the track it's a domino effect. Most of the cars come off too. Very ANNOYING. Now you need to re couple all the trains and get them re balanced on the track. This zip tie idea helps quite a bit, but this year we went a little advanced. 3. Advanced instructions for couples. So as stated before the zip ties on the couples work well but not perfect, because when the train falls off sometimes the zip ties slide off the couples too. Here's our fix this year. Behind each couple is a large plastic piece. We drilled holes in the plastic on each one and then zip tied through our new holes. This seems to be working perfectly. Nothing can zap our holiday cheer faster then being under the tree every five minutes trying to tweet a part of this train. These few quick steps save us HOURS of torture. I've seen many Christmas trains they all seem to have the same issues. Perhaps if you had no small children or pets or carpet these things would be more durable but these extra 10 minutes of prep make all the difference for us. Happy Holidays to all!

This is way over priced. I got it for 30% off and STILL paid [$]. It is at [@] for [$]. Tried to return online purchase BUT you can ONLY get store credit if you return an online purchase to a store. OR you have to pay for shipping to mail it back to get your refund. Depending on what you are saving - it's not worth the hassle. Watch the return policy here.Bottom line, the kids loved it but when I find that I overpaid by $50, and the store does NO price matching OR do they allow you to return to a store - to get your original method of payment back - I Have ZERO plans to purchase from this store again online EXCEPT to use down this gift card!

Very Poor Quality-Would not Recommend

This train was a huge disappointment considering the company name that makes it. The first train would not move forward unless the remote was touching the train (it is suppose to operate up to 10 feet.) We received train #2 and the whistle would not blow, the train would run around the track once and then slow down as though it was not receiving the signal from the remote again.I have returned both trains.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Family loves it
By Peanut's mom
This train was perfect for under the tree. It is easy to put together with multiple track formation options. The sounds it makes and the bell it came with kept the kids smiling. Only downfall is the track comes apart easily if it is accidentally bumped by them, but it is easy to snap back together.

Great train! It comes with batteries but they must have been old because they were not strong enough to pull the entire train. We had a few but not enough so did not get to enjoy the train on Christmas am as we had hoped. Make sure you have batteries on hand.

We bought this train for my 5 1/2 year old boy. If you breathe on it, it becomes misaligned from the track. There are no figurines included in the box, as indicated in the photo above. The cars become uncoupled often, and my son cannot get them re-coupled without help. He also can't realign the wheels onto the track. The train does not have an easy to reach power switch, so you end up hearing it "at the station" for 10 minutes before it powers down. I thought it was going to be a metal train, but it's plastic. This toy is highly temperamental and I would not recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed and it's going back.

I purchased this on Black Friday for my almost 2.5 year old son. It was easy to put together, and looked amazing running under our Christmas tree. He absolutely loved the conductor's voice, bell and whistle, and he figured out the remote in minutes. He struggles to move the people from the observation deck to the front of the train to the platform, but I think this is due to his age.He knows how to do it, but the pieces are so small! The only reason that I did not give this train 5 stars is because you can't turn it off. You can turn off the remote (which is still using the original batteries after three weeks), but you have to wait for the train to turn itself off (after TEN MINUTES of idle time!)! The other option is to disconnect the power source from the engine to the tender, but I'd rather not have my toddler messing with that. This train is seriously awesome, but buy at least a dozen C batteries right off the bat!
