It's great for what it is - a portable piano which can be used for impromptu singalongs or for fun. If you're looking to give a piano recital or use for piano practice/lessons, this is not that. I would invest in a bigger & better keyboard or real piano for that purpose. For what it is, I give it 4 stars (not 5 just because you have to lay it on a flat surface to get the keys to work optimally and I like to sit on the carpet to play).

Great little keyboard for learning and practicing the notes in an octave as well as chords. I wanted something to take with me for simple practice when I didn't want to lug around my electronic keyboard. This far from a concert piano, but it's fun and could easily accompany singing. Kids would no doubt have great fun with it. I rated four stars because occasionally a note is lost in a chord, and I wish it had a port for earbuds so I could take it to work for practice during lunch. Overall, couldn't beat the half price on Black Friday.

Great quality and got it at a steal! On black friday, these babies were only [$]. It can sound like a guitar, violin, and more. My little brother was getting everything for X-mas and I was stuck. I let him open his present early and his eyes lit up! He hasn't put it down and studying new songs is his newest passion, even beyond video games!

I thought this might be useful as a piano substitute when traveling -- so I can work out chords to tunes I transcribe, and to entertain my grandkids.

The sound quality is about what I expected -- tinny. And for the moment it seems to play single notes and some 3-note chords OK. That may change, as other reviews have suggested. (It appears to be limited to 3 notes at a time, also not too surprising.)

But mine, at least, has a major problem: if you play any note together with a note that's 8 (or 16 or 24) half-steps apart, you just get a buzz, not the notes. for example, an E and the C above it (8 half-steps), or any notes two octaves apart (24 half-steps). That's a serious problem because the 8-step separation occurs often in common chords.

There's also an annoyance: the volume control is only two-step, combined with the off switch: off, medium and loud. Not quiet enough not to avoid annoying somebody near the "musician", I think.

The product is a good idea, but it dosent work. it is too sensitive, is not a full 88 keys [37 keys], and has bad sound quality. try [...] for some thing else.

My son loves piano and I thought this would be a great thing to be able to take along on errands so he could practice or have some fun. It turns out that this was absolutely terrible and unable to even play a simple one at a time note on. It is extremely loud and just sounds awful. You can only play notes in smashing blends of chords because it doesn't recognize one note at a time, and it was just terrible. I cannot even express how disappointed we were. Our kids played with it maybe for 5 minutes and were so frustrated by its non-musical functioning, that they wanted nothing to do with it. We tried ourselves and could not make it play even the simplest mary had a little lamb to sound like a song. Just awful!!! We gave it away that same week to goodwill. Don't waste your money on this! It is horrible! Your children will be greatly disappointed especially if they have any musical ability. It will just make them sound awful!

My son loves this toy. It is extremely durable and really takes a pounding from my son and his friends. It is a favorite toy around our home.

I bought this for my stepdaughter as a small Christmas present. She loved it, so I decided to give her lessons. (It would be easy for her to bring the keyboard back and forth between parents). Then, if she liked it, I would move my piano from my parents house. Well, she's not going to learn anything because the keys don't work right. After playing about 5 times, some of the keys no longer make sound when you press them. If you try to play with both hands, it doesn't recognize those notes together. But, other times, when you hit two keys at the same time, it works. I'm trying to find her another portable keyboard, but the reviews on all the ones at ToysRUs sound horrible as well!
