Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat & Base - Cubes accommodates infants from 4 to 30 lbs. The car seat harness has one-pull tightening & loosening for quick harness fitting. The thickly-padded infant insert gives extra support for a smaller baby around the head, neck, back & bottom. The carrier shell is lined with energy absorbing foam. It features an innovative LATCH management system, easy belt routing and a spring-loaded leveling foot to make the infant car seat installation easy. The "one-pull," centrally located tightening strap has made securing the LATCH attachment simple. The KeyFit base also has wide belt routing loops with a built in belt locking system for vehicles without LATCH. Leveling the base is easy with a spring-loaded leveling foot and easy to read liquid, bubble level guides on both sides of the base. The enclosed underside of base protects vehicle seats from damage. Conforms to "NEW" FMVSS 213. Usage: from 4-30lbs, newborn insert from 4-11lbs.

I'm not normally one to write reviews, but after what happened to us last night, I feel compelled. My 3 month old son was strapped snuggly as usual in his car seat when we were t-boned at 50+mph and the truck rolled twice landing on it's pass side. He was seated behind me. Luckily my older son was not in car - this used to be his seat. My little guy cried for just a few seconds until I started talking to him and he calmed right down. After getting myself out of the truck I went to check on my son of course. Although the truck was laying down on it's pass side in a ditch, he looked as if we were sitting upright. He was snugged in so well. I had to take him out of the seat and bring him out through the tailgate window the truck was crunched so badly. I am going to buy another one of these seats today!

Some of the other comments about the car seat getting hot, heavy, etc are true. My little guys did sweat some in their seats, the seats fit very snug, and it is a bit heavy (we're talking maybe 3 lbs heavier than a Graco). But I will endure all of these things in the name of safety!

My older boy was in this seat until he was 13 months old and 23lbs and 30.5 inches. Your carseat isn't supposed to be a baby mobile barcalounger. Both of my boys would ocass cry in their seats, but that's what babies do.

I think has been a good car seat overall. The fact that it comes with the infant supports, strap covers, and the cold weather cover were great plusses for us, since most carseat manufacturers will not let you install outside products or it voids the warranty. Also, it is super easy to clean, and seems to have held up very well in the 5 months that we have used it. However, if you read the product manual, you are not able to use the Key Fit 30 on babies that are over 30 inches tall (so to MommaDez who has stated that she is using it for her son who is 10 months and 40 inches tall should really be getting her son into a new carseat). The height requirement is the same for both the KeyFit 30 and the KeyFit infant, so the only benefit of spending the extra money for the KeyFit30 is the extra weight. However, since our daughter is only 5 months old and already is 26 inches, but only 14.5 lbs. (95th percentile for her height, 75th for her weight), we will be reaching the height requirement way before we reach the 30 lb. weight requirement. I anticipate having to get a new carseat before her next well baby checkup, and for the money we spent I was hoping that I would be getting more use out of this carseat than only 6 months. If you are like my husband and I, and are going to have to purchase 2 carseats (one for each car) after your child grows out of the infant car seat, your money would be better spent just putting it toward two convertible car seats from the get-go. I wish we would have.

Let me just start by saying that we have been very happy with our Chicco and fully intend on using it for baby #2 in a year or 2. It is easy to buckle and tighten, quick installation of the base, comfortable for her and very secure. The bad part is that she DEFINITELY would not fit in it until the advertized 30 pound cut off. She is 18 pounds now and a long 29 inches. Her feet hang off the end and carrying her in the carrier is out of the question. Much too heavy. I have switched her to a convertible seat since I was already taking her out of the seat anywhere we went.
This seat is perfect up until this age...just be prepared that they probably won't use it as long as you think.
Cover easy to remove and wash.
Shade does not have as much coverage as I would have liked.
P.S. Definitely get the Snap and Go stroller with this. The perfect pair for shopping, church, short trips, etc.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Loved the look of this car seat. My husband and I want 2 children and we wanted a seat that was neutral. It's very sturdy and ratings were high in safety. However, it is too heavy for a mom to lift after giving birth and now that my son is 2 months old, it's hard to lift it up into my SUV. Also, unlike other infant car seats, this one does not have the notches cut out to fit onto the front of a shopping cart. You have to put the seat down in the cart, so you don't have any room for your groceries, etc. I do love how easy the base is to put in and take out of the vehicle and how easily the seat locks right in and comes out.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    This car seat is everything that I wanted! I feel like it is comfortable for my son. It is so much easier to adjust then the car seat I had for my daughter (another brand) and don't regret buying this car seat at all. I would totally buy it again! It is completely worth the money!

      Love how easy it installs with LATCH or a seatbelt. Was able to fit 3 across in our small car with the Keyfit30. Absolutely LOVE the chest clip size, it actually fits on the chest without being too bulky that it ends up being a "belly clip".

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        I looked at a lot of carseats when I was pregnant, I liked this one the best. The materials feel nice, it's easy to take out the newborn inserts to wash. It's very straightforward to use. It is heavier than some carseats, but nothing too bad.

          We just got in a head on wreck last night with a drunk driver. Our baby cried but stopped shortly after. He is 100% okay. He is not ever sore. The EMT also said that they are the best car seats out there.

          We purchased this product with the travel system stroller in 2012 prior to our daughters birth. I did a lot of research prior to selecting this brand. Main reason I purchased Chicco was for safety. My daughter was born weighing > 9 lbs. so from the beginning the seat was a little heavy if carried alone, works great with the travel stroller. The base is easy to install with the latch system. We have the cube design and milk stains do show on the fabric but has been easy to wipe off with mild soap and water. During the summer and winter my little one did sweat in the seat. Despite adjusments to the car temperature it has been a little difficult to keep her comfortable. The material is not breathable. During long rides we have to stop frequently to take her out of the seat so she does not get too uncomfortable. During the summer months I just let her wear a onesie in the seat for comfort. I would recommend this seat for parents based upon safety. I am now considering purchasing the Chicco Nextfit.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
