        The numbers quit working (saying a different number than the number pressed, etc) after 2 weeks. We also had the same trouble with another book 'simple first words: let's talk' by this same manufacturer - priddy books- twice. We received this book for our child's first christmas and the words / pictures immediately didn't match up. Then we received it from someone else this christmas and it worked about two weeks and had the same problem. The back says if it malfunctions it may need the 3 button cell batteries replaced, but we pulled the battery tab to use it brand new, and it also says on the back you should receive 4000 opportunities to play the sound. There's no way we pressed it 4000 times. Disappointed, hoped this would get my child talking.

        Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

          I gave this book to my son along with a backpack full of other things to keep him occupied while I was in the hospital giving birth to his younger brother. He was 2 and 1/2 at the time and from what I was told loved the book. He quickly learned number recognition and still likes to pull it out and read it. He likes to find the items at the end of the book and counts along with it. I'm not sure why the other reviewer had problems with her book. It seems like a simple exchange for another one would have fixed it.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          My son received this exact item July 2008 for his 1st birthday. Since then he has learned what most of the pictures are and he's learning his numbers. The product works correctly (has good sound quality) and is a great learning tool. He loves to hear the numbers and look at the pictures.

              Thought it would be a great book for one of my grandsons...instead it was a loser! The numbers spoken did not match the numbers pressed and nothing went above 7. Low quality...Would not recommend it to anyone.
