This is a really nice microphone. It is nicely constructed and has a real heavy well made feel to it. The cord is long enough that my six year-old daughter can move around and sing/dance with it. She loves it. We had to buy a small amp but she has had so much fun singing along to all her favorite songs. I would recommend this to everyone.

It does state no batteries required and yes, some people say everyone should know that means it needs to be pluged into an amp to play-so for the few of us who do not KNOW these things why not just state that it has to be plugged into an amp to play. This is the second item I have purchased by ICarly. The wireless text messenger organizer/fm player is the worst toy I have purchased for my grandkids and I have purchased a lot. It says it is for 4+ and my husband who can do anything could not figure it out. I will not purchase anything with ICarly on it and will let my friends know not to purchase anything.

I love it no idea why so many people are so mad about it i just got it love it! just cause people are to lazy to have an amp doesnt mean they have to get all up and write on here about how their so angry about it got it for my 11 yr. old duaghter and she loves it we have 4 amps so it works like a charm people wonder why it doesnt come with derections:MICROPHONE,AMP PLUG IN,DONE!

We got the microphone for our 4 and 5yr old daughters to share and it works great. The packaging does say amplifier required and works great with their karaoke machine. Not bad for the price.

I know it says must have amplifier, but I thought our Karaoke machine would work as it has a mic input, but it didn't fit. And I don't know what a patch cord is, but the box said it comes with a patch cord. It is just the cord that is permanently attached to the mic, I guess since that is all that is in the box.

First of all, I don't understand how people can be so angry that the mic doesnt play on its own. ANY real microphone you buy is going to need to be plugged into an amp in order for it to work! Unless it is a cheap portable toy and often those dont work.

Its no secret especially since the end of the chord is clearly visible in the packaging!Im guessing directions wern't included because the only direction is to plug the chord into the amp.. and thats it.

as for the microphone itself, i think it is a good quality product. I am a musician myself, and to be honest I wasnt expecting this mic to be all that great when i bought it for my daughter, but i took my chances. I was wrong, the sound is excellent and it feels great. Personally, I am not a fan of the colors, but my daughter absolutely loves it.
