I registered for this gate online as a replacement for my other baby gate, which we've had for more than 5 years and has taken a beating over the years... and I purchased it in store. I liked it's look and that it's made of bamboo. I got it home and just started laughing when I saw it's size compared to our existing baby gate. My three year old can easily climb over this gate if I ask her to try and my dog can definitely jump over it. It's definitely going back to the store for a much taller gate.

If you're in need of a non walk through gate, this one is a great choice. We purchased two of these to have on hand around the house.

We bought 3 different gates, with this one being the cheapest. It is the only one that did not break and the easiest to use. Not flimsy at all, very sturdy and safe.

Bought this trying to save money instead of buying another of the plastic pressure mount one we had, but not worth it and I exchanged it right away for another plastic one.

I tried to use this at the bottom of my staircase. During "installation" (trying to figure out the right hinge setting) I looked down and suddenly realized I had two areas with lots of scratches on my floor. What's hard to see in hte picture, and I didn't pay attention to when I started using it, is that there are two metal brackets/guides on the bottom for sliding the gate in and out to change the width. Well, these metal pieces are attached via metal screws on the bottom. So, you have this metal screw head in two places that is sticking out from the bottom. Unless you keep the gate up off the floor at all times (and really, for a pressure mount gate is that feasible??) you will have those screws touching your floor. Fine if it is carpet, but not if it is hardwood. I have a 1 year old, a dog, and a cat...and none of them have scratched up my floor as much as these two screws did in 5 short minutes. I immediately took it down and took it back to the store. Plastic ones for just a few dollars more are worth it to not damage my floors.

This gate ruined our wall. The bar that you can adjust will dig into the wall and cause dents in it and in our case chip the paint off the wall. In our case for it to fit snugly it dug into the wall if we loosened it, it was too easy to just push and it fell off the wall.

I was looking for a gate to go in a hallway that is 41 inches. This gate said it covered up to 42 inches. When I installed it, there was about a 1/4 inch gap on both sides. It would work well for a 40 inch opening. Otherwise the product seemed like the quality I would expect from this price range.

We actually use this gate in front of our fireplace (it doesn't have doors). So it works perfectly for that, and because of the black color it blends right in. You probably wouldn't want this gate in a doorway that you used often because it isn't a swing-open walk-through gate, but it works well for what I need it for! It slides smoothly and gives a good amount of tension - enough that my son can't pull it out!

The gate is great in that it is light weight and compact, versatile in the dimensions it accommodates, and fairly straightforward to operate (takes a few tries to adjust at first). I was disappointed by the enormous box it arrived in and the yards and yards of packaging "pillows" I had to pop in order to discard. They filled an entire garbage bag when deflated.
