This is a great little toy. My daughter got it as a gift for her first Birthday. When she learner how the toy worked by pushing the button (turtle) down she was hooked. She figured out it worked differently on different surfaces. Slow on carpet and fast on flat surfaces. She also just drives it forward with her hand like a toy car. This toy has gotten dropped and thrown and is still in good condition and works. My daughter is now 2 and I am just putting it away cause I would like it in one piece for our second child. I have no complaints about this toy.

Another age range challenged toy...my son received this as a gift at one and was bored with it then. He is two now and never touches it, and the toy claims that it is for kids up to three. I think it would be good for kids younger than one. It is cute but it has a short "interest" life. Once they figure out how to make it go, it loses its appeal shortly after.

Definitely a toy for wood floors. Works terrible on carpet, but that is to be expected.

Would recommend for young children but not older.

We really wanted this toy to work, but alas, it will not even move a couple inches on our hardwood floor, and slowly at that! No fun for little ones expecting a reaction.

This is a cute toy that rolls well on our hardwood floors. Ours doesn't make a screeching sound at all, it's quite quiet actually.

My 8 month old little girl really likes it, we use it on the wood floor and it works really well. It doesn't work on carpet, but most wheeled things don't work on carpet! So don't buy it if you are not going to use it on a hard surface! It doesn't screech at all so far, and it works as expected. My little girl loves crawling after it and chasing it around the floor.

Another voice for the minority: my 13-month old twins love this! I keep it in the kitchen (as others noted, doesn't roll well on carpet) to distract them when I'm washing dishes, and it works every time. It's been about three months since I pulled it out, and it hasn't gotten old yet. Personally, haven't noticed any screeching.

Received this as a gift and wished I had a receipt to exchange it. As other reviewers point out, it doesn't roll well but the annoying sound the wheels make is awful - plastic against plastic screeching. Baby shows no interest whatsoever. Pass on this one!

I nannied for a year old little girl that had this toy, and I can conclusively say that even though the toy is nicely designed, the colors are bright, and the cheetah is cute, this toy was a complete waste of money and space. It doesn't roll very well and there was nothing about it that ever caught Julia's attention. Unless I made it a point to show her this toy, she would never choose to play with it on her own, and even when I tried to get her interested in it, she wouldn't play with it for more than a few seconds. Good idea, but really not that great of a toy.
