I bought this about a month ago so I could keep an eye on my twin girls in their bedroom. I love how I can pan the room to change the point of view so I can see each crib and what they are doing. I wasn't sure if I would even use the talk feature, but my girls actually listen when I tell them to lay down and go nyny through the camera... don't ask me why, but they instantly fall down onto their mattresses to lay down when I tell them to. The lullabies are a joke, they are very mechanical sounding and not soothing, so I just don't use that feature. I was concerned that the white noise machine I use in their room would make it hard for the monitor to pick up their sounds, but it works great. It actually works a little TOO well... I don't care to hear every cough or quiet babbling in the middle of the night when I am trying to sleep. I have it in peep mode, so it only turns on when it detects sound and it then will turn on the monitor too. I wish there was a mode where you could select how loud a noise has to be to trigger it to come on. I also wish there was a mode that would turn the volume on in peep mode if there was whining or whatever and you could CHOOSE to turn the video on if it was something you needed to see what was going on. It is kind of annoying for the girls to cry out once like WAH because they woke up for a second and then immediately fell back asleep, but to then have my parent unit lit up with sound on until I turn it off. Levana may also want to think about having a setting where the video and audio will stay on for 1 minute or something for you to see what is going on after it picks up a noise, instead of staying on completely with audio and video until you turn it off. I leave the monitor next to my pillow and leave it face down on the bed so when it lights up because it was triggered by noise it doesn't wake me up unless it is a REAL cry. Let's face it, there is never a night when at least one of the girls doesn't cry out or start talking or whatever in the middle of the night, and I don't need to be woken up over every little sound by that bright screen light (although I do have it set on a dimmer setting). A couple of concerns I have are: the battery gets SUPER hot whenever it is charging and has done so since the day we bought it. I'm not sure if that is normal or not, but I sure pray that it doesn't mean it is going to die anytime soon. Another thing is the power button seems to be a bit finicky the past couple of days... and that makes me nervous. While this monitor is fairly priced when compared to other monitors, we can't afford to buy a replacement anytime in quite some time, so I am hoping these things aren't bad signs. You should just be able to press the power button quickly to turn the screen and audio off once it has been triggered in peep mode - but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't now. The picture of the baby in the crib they show on the website and on the box looks nothing like the video picture you will see on your monitor. At night time it is all black, gray and white, and during the day it is very muted colors. However, I didn't expect camera type quality. As long as I can see what is going on and if I need to go in and get a knee unstuck from in between crib slats or if someone has lost their coveted seahorse, that is all I care about. All in all, I really love having a video monitor! This is the first one we have had, so I am not sure how it compares to others. I will be happy as long as it lasts me a couple years!

After reading comments and reviewing the product on Levana's website I purchased the Astra with confidence that I would be getting the monitor depicted online. The picture on the monitor looks crisp and it had all the features I wanted (pan/tilt/zoom, night vision, ability to add cameras). However, I was disappointed with the picture quality once I began to use the monitor. During the day, I used the monitor in rooms with plenty of natural light, however, you couldn't even tell what color my baby's blanket/outfit was or the color of the bassinet (espresso wood). With the night vision, forget about it, all you could see was the shadows of my baby's features. It served its purpose overall, I could see and hear my baby but did not get the quality that I was expecting or advertised. You get what you pay for...When I called Levana to complain/seek customer service they told me it looked as if I was having interference from a WiFi signal and if I had one in the home that would happen. So if you have WiFi (I'd say 99% of people reading this do), I'd stay away.

I was loving this monitor for the most part - had multiple cameras (easy back and forth viewing), pan / tilt, 2-way communication, played music, and had a good image (even at night). But it didn't have much range (to walk to the mailbox), and if we were in other rooms with a strong wireless signal, it seemed to interfere with the monitor, and will come up, show an X, then back to showing picture, and back and forth. After 15 months, the antenna has been a little wobbly the last month, and just today, broke off. I'm not guessing this will last much longer, and it doesn't make me want to buy another one.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We have used this monitor for 2 years and just got another to hook up the additional camera for our second kid. It has good range and we never have an interference problem.

I wouldn't buy this monitor

I am not a fan of this monitor. It doesn't get good reception, the picture quality isn't that great, and after exactly 1 year of use, it stopped charging and would start obnoxiously beeping in the middle of the night and during the day. If you are going to spend the money, I'd go with a different brand. Not impressed.

Use it daily. Good picture. Night vision could be a little better but it still works great. Will be nice to add cameras when we have another kid without having to buy a whole new set. Liked that it didn't use wifi because I don't want someone hacking in watching my baby. Wish it had a little longer range but I don't have any others to compare it to.
Horrible, please don't buy
This company has been nothing short of awful. This camera stopped working six months into use. Under warrantee, no problem, right? Wrong. I sent in the monitor (out of pocket, their policy) and they sent back ANOTHER completely broken monitor. I send that one back (again, out of pocket) now 6 weeks without a monitor, out $25 in shipping, and it's still not resolved. Awful, awful company. PLEASE don't buy from them.

Ordered bc of good review ratingsa and features. However, we had to return due to the continuous "morse code" sounding feedback. We turned our wifi off to be sure that wasn't the an issue and it wasn't. Returned for a Motorola with lower rating and we are very pleased with the Motorola. Silent, no feedback and great picture quality.

Do not purchase Levana Products

I purchased this product based on the great reviews. I have no idea how so many people are having such great luck with this product. I am on my 3rd monitor from the warranty/customer service company (CWD). The first monitor I received came without a battery and had a very LOUD humming sound emitting from it that keeps me awake at night (even on the lowest volume). Since my baby shower was more than 30 days before my my baby was born, I didn't think to try the monitor out until about a week before baby came, so my Babies R Us return policy was already void. The warranty company they sent me a new battery. But, I had to try and trouble shoot the humming sound through live chat and back and forth e-mailing with the company. Eventually, after returning my first one and having to go without one at all until I received a replacement. The new monitor had the same issue. But now along with the humming, when it would get dark in the room I had to physically "shake" the video portion of the monitor to get it to "reset" to the lighting. I had enough, so they sent me a 3rd one after I demanded that they do an advanced return so I didn't have to go a week without one again, but they needed my credit card on file if I didn't send back the original within 30 days (they have been emailing me to "remind"/harass me every other day to send the original back so that I don't get charged, which of course I already sent it back, they just didn't receive it yet). The 3rd monitor still has the same issues, so I basically just lit my money on fire. I will be purchasing another brand monitor and never using this brand ever again.
Range could be better

We registered for this product based on previous reviews. My only complaint is the range of the monitor when we get to the room furthest away from the nursery, we lose range. So when it works, it works well but then when it goes out, its OUT. I'd say its a great product for the price

My antenna came loose after about 6 months. The reception became very poor and wouldn't work in parts of the house (small proximity). One day I laid the monitor down and it sat on the antenna, entirely breaking it off. The monitor is completely useless. I wrote Levana and asked for a replacement. They said no and assured me that they can tell I've really beaten the monitor up or thr antenna wouldn't have broke. I couldn't believe they wouldn't do anything. Buy a better brand. Companies should have better customer service.
