This is definately a booster seat, not a first high chair. I don't know about the tray because I bought it to clip on the chair and clip my daughter into so that she could use it as a booster seat. It works great for these purposes! My only complaint is that the middle strap is a little short so it doesn't tighten at her waist...more like her thighs, but it doesn't leave marks as others have complained of.
I don't find it cheap or flimsy at all!

Very cheaply made and flimsy. The tray is not big enough for a normal sized childrens plate. The padding slides around. Spend a few dollars more for a fisher price.

My MIL borrowed a highchair for us while we visited for two weeks, but we needed a portable one for restaurants and the patio, so her neighbor lent us this one. I was pleased with how easily the back folded down (but didn't fall off easily), but the tray was EXTREMELY difficult to snap on and off. I had to have my husband do it for me each time and he had to use quite a bit of force to get it on or off (and I'm not a weak mommy! :-) ). We have a similar portable booster chair in another brand (Fisher-Price) that we use at home and for $1 less, I would definitely get that one again over this brand.

The middle strap is simply too short. When strapped in, the attached latches jut out directly into our 2-year-old's inner thighs. It's very uncomforatble for him and difficult for us to do an undo the latches.

Although it attaches to the kitchen chair well, it does not meet our minimum requirements as a booster seat.

My mom bought this highchair to use when my daughter (average size 12 month old) and niece (small 16 month old) are at her house. It's definitely not top of the line, but it's not the awful seat the other reviews make it out to be. It straps stably to a chair and the tray is very stable when you snap it on and the size of the tray is fine. The back folds down flat which makes it very easy to store or travel with.

I do agree with some of the other reviews that the center buckle strap is too short so that the buckle ends up around the child's thighs rather then waist. This has not been a problem for us though.

Overall, I would not buy this as your primary highchair, but it works well for travel or having at a grandparents.

I purchased two of these, one in pink and one in blue, for my six month old twins. I didn't want to have to get big bulky high chairs since our dining area is not very big. Also, because I have to buy two of everything I try to get the most value for my money, and I figured they would use these a lot longer than a highchair. I hated them. No matter how tight I pulled the straps that went below and across the back of my kitchen chairs, they always seemed to slide around. Also, the middle strap was way too short. The safety straps ended up going across their hips, not around their waist so I felt as if they were going to fall right out. Every time I took them out they would have red marks across their legs from the straps (I could not have safely made them any looser). The seat pad slid around a lot. I had no issues with getting the tray on and off, but it was small. I returned them and am now looking into "real" highchairs.

I brought this for my 2 year old daughter and like the others said, it was way too small. She was also able to bang the back of the booster seat up against my nice wood chairs. I took it back after 24 hours and got the Fisher-Price Heathy Care booster seat as recommended and we looove it.

I needed a second booster and the store didn't have any Fisher Price in stock. Thought I'd try this alternative but it is going back. It is flimsy, cheaply made, and how it can be rated for a 50 pound child is beyond me. Spend a little more money on the Fisher Price version. You get what you pay for, I guess...

My baby is 9-month old. 50% weight and hight. i.e. He is not a big baby. Still, his legs don't fit in the leg holes of this booster seat, so I returned it. What a waste of time! Buy Fisher, that's a lot better!
