I have a two year old daughter, but I bought this toy for a friend and her two year old daugther for her birthday. When she opened it the girls starting playing with it right away and loved it! It is very durable and it's a great educational toy. You can teach the child the animals on the blocks and teach them to stack them on top of each other and inside each other. Because the blocks fit inside each other so it makes it for easy clean up and storage. I love Melissa and Doug products! They are a must for any child!

The first day we got them the kids fought over them had to do alot of time outs till they started sharing,they love them ,they are sturdy,colorfull. the fact that they stack 2 ways are great and they like to carry thigs around in the big blocks.I think they could use a little more sealant because toddler teeth are very sharp and on an edge my son bit a piece of wood off it was tiny but he hasn't done it again. wish they had sets with colors or numbers or alphabet too.

My daughter is almost 17 months old and these blocks hold her attention longer than any other toy she has. She loves stacking them, knocking them over and fitting them inside of each other. She'll play with them alone, but usually will play longer if my husband or I play with her - helping her stack and letting her knock them down. The other day I timed it and we played just with these blocks, no other toys, for 40 minutes!

I bought these about three months after I purchased the alphabet nesting and stacking blocks, also by Melissa and Doug.

The alphabet blocks are a lasting favorite, but because they're made of a stiff paper/cardboard material they are sturdy but were starting to show wear.

I thought that because the other blocks were such a favorite, that surely 'upgrading' to the wooden ones would be a good decision.

Nope. They're very attractive, very sturdy and very nice. But they're harder to pull apart (the wood is a little heavier and sort of clings to the other nested blocks) and make quite a racket when they're stacked and knocked over.

The kids don't like them, and have only played with them one time since I purchased them. I have hopes that when they're bit bigger (they're 14 months) that they will like this set, but for now it doesn't hold their interest at all. The alphabet set, however, is still played with daily. I would have been smarter to simply buy a back-up of those instead of a new set.

These blocks are great and my grandson loves them. I was a little surprised when I saw they had one side open, but it gives them the extra option of learning nesting and it makes them small to store. I like the animals on the sides too (more education). He loves stacking and knocking them over and stacking again. They are substantial too (a light weight wood). I'm very pleased with the purchase.

My toddler son LOVES these blocks. He has a great time stacking and nesting them as well as identifying all of the animals pictured on the outside. They are sturdy and hold-up to his rigorous play.
