Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

I bought this item for our car trip to DISNEYWORLD
for use at the hotel(s). I set it up and let my 14 mo. old take naps in it in order for her to get used to it. She really likes it. She doesn't fuss when she's in it. She lays down and rests. I think one reason she likes it is that nobody can bother her in there. In her crib or pack & play her sisters can get to her. She loves to play, but sometimes she wants to be left alone. With the peapod the sisters would have to unzip it...and they've been forbidden to do that. So my 14 mos old gets some rest. I know she's going to love this peapod on the trip too. I have smallish children, but I think my baby will be able to use this a long time. My 5 year old can lay down inside it (thought not very comfortably). I think my baby will be able to use it until about age 4. I will unzip it when it's in use by then though.

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

I absolutely loved the idea of this product. It comes with an air mattress that has it's own compartment for safety, It's own small pump, and a sleeping bag that all fits easily into the carry bag with room for extra things like a blanket. A child can be comepletly self-contained inside with zip up mesh sides and covers for the "windows". It is fairly lightweight (especially compared with a pack n play) and easier then most pop-ups to fold. It does Pop out quickly so watch out. I had a VERY fussy baby who hated the pack and play so I thought this would be great for when traveling. Although he seemed much more comfortable in it he HATED when I zipped it up and would scream and push against the sides like a caged animal (which isn't easy to deal with). At home I could just lie him in his crib for him to fall asleep but I had to put him to sleep 1st before I could put him in the kidco and zip it up (it seemed safer then having the flap open where he could get out since he could crawl at the time). If he'd wake up we had to start all over again. My older son wasn't too thrilled about sleeping in it either (with flap up) but will "rest" in it comfortably.
All that being said both of my boys love to play in it like a tent and it has lasted through VERY rough play. (I take out the air mattress though so they don't pop it)
I'm pregnant with my 3rd and am hoping that it will work as a travel bed since I will be putting the baby in it at an earlier age. To be fair my 2nd son had colic for 7 months and was extremely picky so it might've just been him, not the bed.
The only actual complaints I have with it is the pump gets "stuck" when pumping and won't always work. Also the sleeping bag that comes with it slips around in the tent. I wish it had a way to put a sheet in it securely. I used a heavy baby quilt under my son that didn't "slip" easily and would keep him off the material. The other minor complaint is the flaps don't stay up well. They need a "middle" piece of velcro.
I guess it would've worked better for me if the top opened and I could lay him down more like a pack n play and he wouldn't have felt so confined but then I don't think the sides would've been sturdy enough to keep him from tipping it over. All in all It think it's a great product and think it will work better if I start my next one in it sooner.

pays for itself
By traveling momma from tulsa, ok on 1/25/2010
Pros:
Easy Assembly, Fun, Sturdy
Cons:
Strong plastic odor
Best Uses:
Air travel
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

This thing works great and is the most compact option I have found for an infant travel bed. Though it is not quite as small as I thought, I was still able to pack it around our carseat as we packed for our flight. When you consider that we would have had to pay $15 each way to check the pack and play when we fly, just 2 trips makes this purchase worthwhile. My only complaint is that it had a very strong plastic odor when I opened it - but I set it up and let it air out on my back porch for 2 days and the smell was gone.My son slept great - I did also bring a crib sheet and sheet saver to make it a little more like home.

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

My daughter was flipping herself out of a pac and play at 7 months. So taking naps at g-moms and taking vactions were looking like they were going to be impossilbe. But this peapod, is amazing. Sets up in seconds, my 2 1/2yr old daughter has been sleeping in it since she was a year. No renting hotel cribs:) Light weight to carry in the duffle bag that is provided. My next baby I may not even drag out the pack and play and may just purchase a second pea pod.

Great for Army family!
By New Mom from Sierra Vista, AZ on 10/16/2009
Pros:
Easy Assembly, Sturdy
Best Uses:
Young Children

Bottom Line:

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

We have a 9-week old and had to go on a 6-week trip including stops in several different places. We'd heard that hotel cribs can be sketchy, so we decided not to count on them and bought this. Sure enough, our first hotel (Army lodging...) doesn't even offer cribs, so this is a lifesaver. Our daughter is safe and snug in this, but with plenty of room--she'll fit in it for a few years! Next we're visiting family and moving overseas, and we'll never have to worry about having a safe place for her to sleep. The only con is that it's a little bigger/heavier than I expected, both when open and when folded up. It takes up a significant portion of a medium-sized suitcase. But its carrying case is great, it folds up easily, and as I mentioned earlier the size is a benefit. We managed to fit it in our luggage, and we're packrats.
I even plan on using it as a sunshade for her on the beach.

We used the Peapod while we were on vacation and it was the best travel bed we could ever have bought. Our 14 month old slept in it at the beach and while visiting Gramma. He even crawled in it to play. We are recommending this product to eveyone we can.

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

We initially got the Peapod tent to use instead of a pack-and-play. It is much lighter and smaller when folded--and it practically sets itself up. The air mattress blows up quickly and fits in a pocket underneath the tent, so there is no chance for a child to get tangled in it. Our son (7 months) sleeps better in new places when he can't see outside of the crib. With the Peapod, we don't have to cover a crib like he's a bird! If he wedges himself into a corner, the fabric is breathable.

We also plan on using the Peapod outside to protect him from the sun and countless mosquitos here!

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

We bought this as a "travel" bed to use at my in-laws etc. We just recently went camping and used it a TON! Our son (10 months) slept inside this IN our tent and we also packed it up everyday and took it to the beach. He took naps in it on the beach as well. It's VERY easy to wrap up and move.

Better for younger babies
By Happy Mom from Maryland on 7/16/2009
Pros:
Easy Assembly, Lightweight, Portable, Sturdy
Cons:
Not good for play, Unsafe Features
Best Uses:
Infants, Sleep, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Kidco Red Peapod:

This bed is a great idea, but I think it would be more suitable for younger babies. We bought it when my daughter was 11 months old and thought she might enjoy using it as a play tent as well as a bed. It says 0-3 years as the recommended ages.

We took it to my sister's house twice and she napped well in it a couple of times, but one time I put her in it to nap and she fussed for about a half an hour before I finally went to get her. I found that she had thrown up in the bed (for whatever reason?), so it is now ours to keep! :)

She does nap in it if she's tired enough and as long as she can't see other people, but for her age it isn't effective as a containment solution at the beach or anything since she screams when we zip it up. I probably would have returned it if she hadn't thrown up in it :).

The blanket that is supposed to line the inside slips around a lot, so it would be safest to leave that out if your baby is younger. I didn't use it because of this reason.
