I LOVE this cup for my 9 month old. We have tried several sippy cups to no avail, but this cup worked great for her. She can bite and suck on it much like a bottle so she caught on in like 5 minutes. I also think it will make teaching to drink out of a straw easier since she can do this!

The Dr. Brown's bottle pipe cleaners are perfect for cleaning out the straw.

Picked one of these up from BRU today...love the handles and size for my 12 month old...she immediately held onto it, and I was so excited when she began to suck...then she threw it down and begged for her bottle.
I was frustrated with her until I tried drinking out of it myself, and could barely make a drop come out. I realized the 'built-in valve' requires you to bite the straw and suck at the same time. What's the point in that?

This cup is not for the breastfed baby. My 9 1/2 month old son has no problem with a regular straw but I wanted something that was spill proof. This cup only has a slit in the straw that the baby has to bite to allow liquid to flow through. Biting while latching on is not something I want my son to pick up on. It was even difficult for me to drink from once I tried. This cup went in the trash!

straw is difficult to put back and it is difficult to use. you have to bite down to drink anything..i would not purchase if I knew!

My son has been using this cup since he was 9 months old. He doesn't have to tilt the cup back to get the liquid, he can easily control the flow and it just works PERFECT for him! I've heard he started early drinking from a cup (first time mom)but I really think this cup has made a huge difference in him mastering the skill.
At times if he doesnt drink all of the liquid in the straw, the straw can flip causing a little water flings, but I have not experienced any leaks. Also the first time I removed the upper portion of the straw it was a little tricky getting it back in the top but I got the hang of it and no longer have any issues.

I bought this cup because I wanted a straw cup that my son could not remove the straw from. This accomplishes that, BUT, it's totally not worth the effort. The packaging advertised "fewer pieces to loose" because the valve was built into the straw. So, instead of a cup, lid, and valve (3 pieces), this is a cup, lid, silicone top 1/3 of straw, white plastic middle 1/3 of straw, and clear plastic bottom 1/3 of straw (5 pieces). Not "fewer pieces" by my calculation. The directions say to completely disassemble and wash the cup and straw after each use. It's just way too many pieces to keep track of. Plus, the straw is really hard to put back together.

I used this to feed my son with milk, and I washed it every single time after using, but someday I still found stains inside of the straw. And it was too difficult to make it all clean. Therefore, I only fill it with water now, cause water dosen't have any fat or something can stuck and hide. And I need put it in a plastic bag before putting in my handbag, otherwise it will wet my handbag from the inside out.

Nuby gets me every time! I love the idea of their products but the bottles and cups have always given my daughter a hard time. You have to bite down on the straw of this cup to get the liquid out. At first this just really irritated my daughter. She finally got the hang of it after trying for 5 months! THAT being said, now that's she's finally using it, it's an awesome cup. But beware! Don't buy these in bulk until you try one to make sure your little one can actually get the hang on it!

I used these cups before they were BPA free for my son, and was so glad to see they are now BPA free! I wanted my son to use a cup with a straw for various reasons, and he took to this cup very well. I did stop using it when I realized it was made with unsafe plastic. I was disappointed, but my son was older by then and able to handle some of the other bulkier straw cups. (which are not as good in my opinion, they leak). I am so glad that these are available BPA free for my daughter to use. A few people mentioned the straw being hard to clean. My solution to that is to use a pipe cleaner. That worked perfectly. I highly recommend this cup! No leaks, and a nice lightweight design for babies who are just learning.

We received this from grandma. My little guy LOVES it!! It barely spills, easy to hold, super great. BUT, that straw is a pain to clean. Giant pain. I couldn't figure out what smelled so bad until I noticed all the trapped grossness was stuck in the straw and mouth piece.
