I breast feed primarily but at daycare my 4 month old uses wide nipple bottles. I got Medela bottles because I bought a Medela pump and have given him breast milk in Medela bottles with this nipple. The nipple works great. I think the problems other reviewers have had aren't about the quality of the nipple but more about the style their baby has in eating. Since my son is primarily breast fed, he puts his lips wide around the nipple on this bottle. Because of that, he doesn't pinch the neck of the nipple and after an ounce or so, he lets up on the nipple and air bubbles go back into the bottle equalizing the pressure and he starts to eat again. If your baby tightens her lips around the nipple and doesn't take a breather and relax her lips from the nipple after an ounce or two to equalize the pressure, you'll have trouble with any nipple that doesn't have an air valve. This is a high quality product.

I agree with the others who say these nipples collapse only if used incorrectly - with one caveat. These nipples collapse if the lid is screwed on too tightly, but once your baby learns to unscrew the bottles it is very tempting to screw them on as tightly as possible to prevent a disaster! However, they are AWESOME for breastfeeding mothers because they encourage a similar motion.

These nipples are horrible. We keep having to stop feeding every few minutes to pop the nipple back out. They make feeding a much longer process and my son constantly has hiccups and gas due to these nipples. We plan on switchig to playtex ventaire like our first son.

The nipple will not collapse if you don't screw the collar on too tightly! If you are thinking of purchasing these bottles, don't be turned away by the reviewers complaining of the nipple collapsing. If you screw it on too tightly and it is not able to get air, yes it will collapse... it's common sense. I figured this out on my own and once I stopped screwing it too tightly it has not collapsed a single time. These bottles are great and so convenient... I would highly recommend!

Flow and build quality is great. I'm surprised when reading these reviews at how many people don't know how nipples function. You need to remember that if you are using a normal bottle that the bottle needs air to distribute the contents. It's the same as the water coolers at your work place, air goes in water comes out. If your baby is a constant sucker and doesn't like it when you pull the bottle away I would suggest a bag type bottle as the bag will collapse instead of the nipple.

The flow is fine but the suction is horrible. My baby starts drinking then the nipple falls inside.

I have used the slow-flow and medium-flow. I do remember the slow flow collapsing but was never a problem for my baby. I think the medium-flow are better or newly improved (?). I'm re-ordering for my 2nd time and will continue to do so. I have used other bottles-they are big, bulky, heavy, and the nipples are so far different for a breastfeeding baby to adjust to. I have been using Medela products since he was born (is almost 9 months) and have had no nursing/bottle issues whatsoever.

My daughter spent hundreds of dollars to purchase your products....dual breast pump, storage bags, containers, bottles and nipples for my first grand baby, everything is great with the exception of the nipples....she has tried both flows, and they both collapse. It takes my grand baby forever to feed and she gets frustrated when the nipples collapse and the bottle has to be taken from her because she does not get her breast milk. This has the baby frustrated and crying, along with my daughter. That's not the only problem, in the end, the baby still has the hiccups and gas. We are switching to the Gerber nipple, until your company can find a better solution for the nipple.
