I have not had any problems with these nipples. If you screw the nipples on too tight there is not enough room for air to exchange and the nipples with collapse. This appeared to be a slow flow nipple to me. My son did not choke.

Softer silicone and longer nipple suited my baby better than the Gerber nipples as the soft wide base allows him to imitate how he feeds at the breast. He learned how to release suction to keep the flow constant. If your baby doesn't, simply pull gently back on the bottle and the air will shift pushing the milk where it should.

Flow seems to be perfect for my 6 day old. I read some reviews that the nipple pops in sometimes... it has only happened once, but really wasn't a big deal, I just pulled it out.

I bought the Medela pump and it came with one nipple. The nipple collapsed after a week of use. Will not recommend. I bought Dr. Browns preemie nipple instead for slow flow since my baby seems to guzzle the milk with medela nipple.

It collapsed every time I used it. My baby couldn't get more than a couple sucks off of it before it collapsed and I had to pull it out of her mouth and fix it with my hand. I've had better luck with just using the cheaper EvenFlo nipples and burping her more often during feedings.

These nipples should not be called slow flow. The milk comes out too fast and my baby cries when I try to feed her with them. The milk gets every where. Im happier with Dr. Browns.

This nipple is a great slow flow for my 8 week old who began using them at 4 weeks. This nipple has never collapsed or inverted with my son so I'm not sure if Medela has made changes since the older reviews were posted. No complaints here and I love that you can pump directly into the bottle, attach the lid and then pop on the nipple when you are ready to feed. Highly recommend.

These nipples are great. They form a tight seal with the caps, so there is no leakage. When turned upside down they drip very slowly and sometimes hardly at all. I think they are slower flowing than some other slow flow nipples I purchased, but once my baby sucks, he gets enough milk. I haven't experienced much nipple confusion at all. I introduced the bottle at 3 weeks and my son switches from breast to bottle and back with ease. I've found he burps much faster after drinking from these nipples than from others and even from the breast.

We were initially using the old Medela slow flow nipples with our daughter who has a swallowing difficulty. After switching to the wide base she improved. They are easier to clean and seem sturdier as well. I have no complaints other than with Medela for switching things up on us mom's that already had the old bottles and now we have to buy new collars and nipples!

Just an FYI for those purchasing replacement nipples for older bottles. These nipples will not fit the older rings. I have bottles from 2008 (I invested in 12!) that I would like to use for my baby due in 2011. You can no longer get the old style nipples and must purchase new rings AND new nipples.

Have not tried the new nipples yet. Medela send me 3 as a courtesy.
