Product Description

Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol with Iron provides an excellent source of vitamins A, C and D for infants and children who are exclusively or partially breastfed.

Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Got this as a sample from my OBGYN before my babe was born. Read up on ingredients and why it's necessary. I was shocked to find out that they can't get enough Vitamin D from BM. My babe wasnt thrilled by the taste at first but enjoys it now. I mix it in w his fruit or rice creal now. Not the best smelling and does stain but what vitamin smells or tastes great. Glad I've been using it almost since he was new and have recommended it to friends.

My question is what type of caramel coloring is used ?

Current federal regulations allow four types of caramel coloring: two of which are made with ammonia: Caramel III and Caramel IV.

Caramel III is made with ammonia but not sulfites and Caramel IV is made with ammonia and sulfites. Both of these have been implicated in causing cancer in lab animals.

The label does not disclose which type is being used. I find this both unfortunate and suspicious. Even more so since the artificial color is completely unnecessary.

What type of Caramel food coloring is present in this product? The ingredients only list "caramel color".

Until I find out more I am returning the TriViSol we purchased. I'm not taking any chances with my baby.

Aside from my concern it seems to be a good product, our EBF baby eats it up no problem, but he's seen the last of it until I find out more about the above.

For full disclosure I am a medical doctor.

PLEASE provide the dropper cap!!!

By Nana Banana

About Me Parent of Two or More Children

Pros

  • Keeps Well
  • Mixes Easily
  • No Constipation

Cons

  • Incovenient Syringe
  • Poor Taste
  • Stains

Best Uses

  • Infants
  • Toddlers

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

After replacing the dropper cap with the "more convenient" syringe, I now have a very thin syringe to hand wash after every use. Takes less than a minute, I know, but that's time I DON'T HAVE, between two kids, the household, a full-time job, and twins on the way. My toddler won't take it anymore, and the little ones on the way never will :0(
Way to consider busy moms, Enfamil! Al least give me the option to switch to the dropper (I'd even but it separately!)

    Why are you buying this?

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

I bought this product based on my child's needs, not based on ease of drawing/giving a dose. I'm on the fence with which applicator is best as you may have to adjust how you give the vitamins if you are struggling with the syringe. The reason I purchased the product was for what's inside the bottle and I find that to be great.

      New syringe is awful

      By Disappointed

      from Detroit, MI

About Me Parent of Two or More Children

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

"Now Includes Easy-To-Use Syringe!" Does anyone from Enfamil actually have children? Whoever decided that a syringe would be easier to use than the old dropper got it all wrong. The dropper was super convenient and I never had any problems controling the amount of product drawn up and dispensed. I could easily hold my squimy child on the changing table and give him his vitamins. Can't do that with the new syringe. Can't tell you how many times I've almost spilled the entire bottle, as I need two hands for the syringe. Plus, it has to be washed after each use or it gets gross. Sounds like Enfamil just wanted to save a few bucks, not make our lives easier. Will be looking at other brands.

      New Syringe

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

The new syringe is terrible. It is flimsy and difficult to maneuver. Moreover, it must be rinsed daily and is not stored in the bottle like the old one. Most parents are overwhelmed already, and I can say that adding another chore to my day (rinsing and replacing the syringe) increases the likelihood of my infant missing her vitamin when I haven't had the time to wash this thing or can't locate it. I'm seeking an alternative.

        Please redesign new dropper

        • New Dropper Hard To Use

        Best Uses

        • Infants
        • Newborn

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

Please consider returning to old dropper style. This dropper is too long to use easily with one hand. (Because as a mother of three, I usually only have one hand available) As a result, baby, baby's shirt, my hand and my countertop get sticky every morning. I prefer the old bulb style dropper, but if you must use the syringe type, could it be made shorter and wider to make one-handed use easier? Thanks. If dropper were improved, product would receive 5 stars.

        New Syringe Is Unusable

        By Mom of Two

        from Milwaukee, WI

About Me Parent of Two or More Children

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

This new syringe is horrible. It is difficult to insert into the bottle and get the proper dosage. But the thing that is even worse is that if the baby moves when you are dispensing the liquid, it can stab the baby in the cheek because it is so narrow and pointed. Until this syringe is redesigned, I will no longer buy this product. Bring the old syringe back!

        New Applicator Is Terrible

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

We've been using these Tri-Vi-Sol vitamins for several years and were very happy with them until the latest package we bought which has the new applicator design. It's a terrible change! The old dropper style applicator was easy to use and could be stored as the lid for the bottle. The new syringe style applicator is flimsy and more difficult to use; it's harder to measure accurately and dispenses in an uncontrollable rush. Even more annoyingly, it cannot be stored in the bottle and so, because it is sticky from the liquid, has to be rinsed with each use. Please bring back the old style dropper applicator otherwise we will certainly switch to an alternative source of these vitamins.

The new syringe requires two hands to fill up and to dispense into babies mouth (without drowning the poor little one.). You do realize Moms only have ONE extra hand?? This little (yet so big) inconvenience is making me have to find a new brand.
