My son is born 6 wks early, stayed in the hospital for a month, and just got home 4 days ago. He's been drinking the ready-to-drink formula and using the disposable nipple given to us when we got out of the hospital. But when we ran out of them yesterday, it was a disaster! We have him use the Tommee Tippee starter set that comes with 0+mo nipple (slow flow), but those nipples drips fast that it comes hard for my son to "catch up" to it. I felt so terrible that our preemie is not finishing his drink because of it.

We went to BRUs today to look for another set of bottle to use. Bought this and the Medela brand, for comparison. And yes! We finally found the perfect bottle for our lil one with Dr. Brown's! In fact, we will be going back later to BRUs to get another set! We should have chosen Dr. Brown's the very first time!

Just a note that might be useful:

Yes, the box did say "Ideal for Preemies". It is because the bottles are 2oz and are marked per mL, which is how feedings for preemies are monitored. The nipple included in this box is a Level 1, as stated on the box. If it is needed, Dr. Brown's nipples also comes with Preemies level that we could switch onto. Hope this helps!

I have a 4 yr old son, I used these with him in 2007 and love them, we never had any problem with feeding time, now I'm have a baby girl and will be using Dr. Brown again!!

My son was born 5 weeks early and as a preemie, had many problems with spit-up and gas. He spit-up through his nose on a regular basis and it was horrible to watch.

We decided to try the Dr. Brown bottles and they are amazing. He hardly ever spits up and he has no more issues with gas. They are a bit more work to clean, but well worth it if you have a small baby in a lot of pain. I would highly recommend to anyone dealing with babies having spit-up problems.

I have a preemie and need to give meds 2x a day. This is a great size to give small amount. We use Dr. Browns for regular feedings so it is a nice transition from meds to meal. Size is also great for giving a snack size feeding.

My son is a preemie and was using slow flow nipples in the NICU for three weeks. We tried several different slow flow nipples when we brought him home and they were all too slow for him. When the nipple is too slow flowing, the baby has to work extra hard to get the milk out, causing them to get tired very fast. We used these bottles with the stage 1 nipple and it works perfectly. Doesnt make him gag and doesnt make him fall asleep during feeding because he's working so hard. Also, my baby got colic at 3 weeks old...dr told us there was nothing we could do for him. We tried the gas drops, but those didnt work. As soon as we switched to these bottles, his colic decreased tremendously. He went from 3 hours a night of screaming and restlessness to sleeping through the night. If he does get gas pain, it's pretty rare and short lasting. It is a huge relief knowing our baby is much more comfortable now. Yes, these do have extra parts to clean, but in my opinion it is well worth it. The reason I didnt give five stars is because of the extra cleaning time and the price tag.

These bottles stated "great for premature babies". My daughter was not premature but I've had issues with the nipples flowing too fast and choking her. I have tried Born Free, Platex, and Tommee Tippee bottles and all flow faster than my baby can drink. Dr. Browns bottle were the worst and flowed faster than all the others. I can't imagine a parent with a premature baby being able to use these without drowning them.

I am so glad that I was able to find 2oz bottles. Being a mom of a premie the 4 oz bottle were just to big to heat up the small amount she was eating. These bottles take longer to clean, but to me it is worth it.

This bottle was great at preventing my son from getting colic. But if the milk were to be left in there for more then an hour the middle part would smell like old milk no matter how many times i'd wash and scrub it w/soap. Then that same middle part is soooo hard to clean if u lose that tiny little brush!!! plus they leak if left tilted.
