This product looks nice and has worked fine for us until I realized that my 4-year old can unlock it with no problem. I need something that a child can't easily figure out how to unlock.

The device is fairly easy to install, and after testing myself they do keep the window from opening more than a couple of inches. I just rearranged my sons room so that his dresser is in front of the windows. He is now able to open a drawer and climb up on top of the dresser and able to reach the window locks and this safety first device. I found it in the unlock position today. They are easily reset to the unlock position even by my 2 year old. This device is on the same level (elevation wise) as the window locks themselves, so it really doesn't provide much reassurance/extra safety if he can unlock it himself already. I am disappointed that I spent the time and money on this product.

These are very sleek looking and work well, but one thing I wish I'd realized beforehand is the locks are designed to only be attached to the right side of the window.

Our house has many double windows (two side-by-side that are mulled together) so to install the lock on the right window sash is easy - we just drill into the adjacent wood trim. But to install the lock on the left window sash requires us to drill into the window frame itself, which voids the warranty on the windows (which at 25 years is a pretty big deal).

These window locks are very easy to install, but they break with the slightest touch. I had them installed on all my windows on the third floor. I have had them up for less then a week and two of them have already broken. Luckily one broke for my mother when she opened the window and the other broke for me. We both knew the window should be stopping at 4 inches but it just kept going up. When you look at the product the button still says lock but the arm is breaking and going straight up. I am taking them all out and finding something taht will work. I am not taking a chance that my children will fall out a 3rd floor window. Buy at your child's risk!!!!

Product was installed in second story windows. Very easy to install. Does not stand out like other products and it's easy to operate.

I only needed a lock on one window, so I put them both on, one higher than the other. My son managed to pull both of them out of the wall. However, I blame the plaster walls more than the lock. As with any kind of lock, it is only as good as what it is attached to. If you have something more solid than I do to screw the lock into, I think it would be great.

I love these window locks!! We have a 3yr old that knows how to unlock and open windows. He has a window in his room that he can reach if he stands on the end of his bed. I looked for months and actually bought this straight from the manufacturer a few months ago and love it! Installs easily and is easy for an adult to use!!

We have several windows upstairs that my 3 year old daughter has watched me operate has learned by example. These windows were not installed with locks, however, which is a problem with 2 young children in the house. After searching at Babies R Us, we found these and decided to try them. They work great, however they can only be installed on the right hand side of a window. That's a problem for us because we have double windows with no separations in our children's bedrooms. I wrote to Safety 1st and asked if they would consider making the same thing available for a left hand installation. Hopefully, I will get a response soon.
