This product only works for doors that open toward you...great, if you want to lock your child in a room... Terrible product.

All bedroom doors open into the room, not out, and the door frame doesnt allow this to be put on the handle going into a room. what a poorly designed product.

This lock only works on doors that open out, not doors that open into a room. I was able to use it on my pantry door, but not my bedroom door. When I put it on my bedroom door the door wouldn't close because the door jamb was in the way. The directions say to use dental floss to remove it from the door. I tried that for about 20 minutes with no luck. Finally I gave up and had to start prying it off. Another 25 minutes later it came off, but it took the paint off too.

So we bought these for use on the bathroom and office doors after switching our daughter to a big girl bed. Too bad the doorframes prevent these from fitting in both rooms- this is a large, bulky product and there is not much wiggle room around the base of the handle. These did not work for us at all.

Recently moved to a new home that has all lever knobs on the doors. Bought and tried just one of these (thank goodness I didn't waste more money!) Thought it was the perfect solution as we have many doors I need to child proof. Installed it as directed and didn't use for a day to let the adhesive stick. But within 2 weeks my 23 month old son pulled the entire lock device right off the door. I would have expected the 5 year old to maybe be able to do this, but not a child under age 2. I'm back on the search for a better way to keep the little ones out of unwanted places. I expected a lot more for the price of this product.

this product is a great second lock i have a one and two year old my two year old can unlock door lock but cant unlock this one.. i love it so if you forget to lock dead bolt this lock will save your child from getting out of house without you knowing....

We have them on our two front of the house doors. My son recently figured out how to let himself in the back yard so now we have to get a third. He has yet to figure this out. And if you're worried about the adhesive on your door, buy some Goo Gone. My son has figured out how to break or bypass every lock except this one and the oven lock.

Be aware - this device requires it to be stuck with adhesive to the door itself. I had to return it because I didn't want to chance having tape/glue reside on the wood of the door. Seemed to be strongly and reliably made, but know ahead of time you have to TAPE/stick it to your actual door.

We've found that Safety 1st's "professional grade" series of child safety items to be the best out there. We really like the doorknob covers, the toilet seat locks, and the top-of-door locks. This lever handle lock is no exception. They are more expensive and in some cases, more complex or bulky, but I think it's worth it. We only have a lever on our front door, so it's not used more than a couple of times a day - but it's completely thwarted our 22 month old who, if the door was left unlocked, could easily open it and run into the front yard/driveway/street - so a good lock was crucial. It doesn't look that bad because of the modern styling, although it is big. It does take some explaining, but our housekeeper got it by herself on the first try...if you don't have a ton of the lever handles - but a few important ones - this is more than worth it.
