Product Description

Mickey's Magic Choo Choo lays its own tracks just like on the show! Just the top button on the train and it will lay a piece of track all by itself and roll forward as the Choo Choo song plays! Then turn the crazy crank to shift gears to "mode 2." The child will then lay out the track and connect the cars to the train. There is also a gate on the back of the train that the child must turn into position. The train will go around the track and you can hear phrases and sound effects.

The Fisher-Price Mickey Mouse's Magic Choo Choo Train Set includes:

  • 10 Pieces of track
  • 1 Car
  • 2 Signs
  • Crossing gate
  • Mickey figure

Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

Features

  • Train magically lays track
  • Fun phrases and the "Choo Choo Song"
  • Classic train play too!

I bought this as a surprise for my daughter to go with the new one hour long special. She LOVED it! She lines up all of her Disney friends and gives them rides in the caboose. I'm hoping that they'll come out with more track and more cars - so there will be even more fun! I'm hoping that the people with the poor experiences on this site were trying to use the product on heavy carpet or something - because we are not having any trouble at all. I would say that it was a bit expensive, but it was priceless to see my daughter's reaction. She loved it!

I was so excited when I found this train. My daughter loves Mickey and trains so I thought this would be the perfect gift. The sounds it made and the looks of the train set are adorable, but that is it. We tried the classic mode (circular track) on the carpet and hard wood floor. It would not go around the track at all. When putting it in magic mode where it is supposed to pick up the track, it would work 3-4 cycles and then spit the track off course so that the train would stop.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Mickey Mouse's Magic Choo Choo Train Set:

My son received this for christmas from his Grandma and Papa. It was an instant hit! My son loves trains and he played with it often. He was 2 when he received this.

It's best to set up on hard surfaces like a table or on hardwood floors. My son always set it up on the kitchen floor because we have mostly carpeting in the house. It still worked on the carpeting, but the track doesn't stay together very well when it is operated on thicker carpet.

The magic feature when it picks up the track is neat to look at, but it really doesn't need it. It will still go forward even without the track. My son mostly loved to have it ride around the circle track and sometimes he would flip the tracks around so that way it would go different ways.

There are a few flaws with this. There isn't enough tracks, but the tracks are very well made. The train is well made too. It also didn't survive my son accidently throwing it in the bathtub full of water. It instantly broke from that. Now that he's out of the stage of trying to throw all his toys in the bathtub, I would buy this for him and now it's even cheaper, so that's a bonus.

All in all, I recommend this toy for younger kids who love trains. My son has Chuggington, Thomas, Fisher price, Melissa and Doug, and other brands of train sets. He's a train nut. This was a perfect gift for him.

My son also loves Mickey and decided to buy this for his 2nd birthday. I contemplated returning it with such mixed reviews, but thought I'd wait and see my son's reaction. Right away, he wanted to put it together and has been playing with it ever since. The tracks go together easy enough for a toddler and even if they are not together prefectly, the train will still connect with the track to keep going around. It would be nice to be able to buy more tracks to expand the play experience.

I Don't Understand the Bad Reviews???

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Mickey Mouse's Magic Choo Choo Train Set:

I was hesitant about purchasing this for our son because of the mixed reviews. I was worried from the reviews that it might not function well, might not be durable, and thought it might not be fun for long in track mode (with the track only going in a circle) and I thought it would need more freight cars and additional track to make it more fun(which are not available to purchase/add-on)... BUT I am so HAPPY we decided to try it anyway!

We have had it almost 2 years, (we got it for our son who was 1 yr old at the time)- and it has stood up to a LOT of abuse (it has been dropped many times, even down the stairs) and it is still going strong!! Even though our son has a LOT of toys, this one has been one of his favs and has been played with almost everyday (I can't say that for many of his toys- that he bored of in a short time or that broke in a short time). This was definitely worth every penny we spent, since it has provided him with so much joy and entertainment, and is so durable!
He loves trains and he loves Mickey (what toddler boy doesn't) so of course he LOVES his Mickey Choo Choo, and he still plays with it everyday to this day.
As far as they way it plays:
I LOVE that there are THREE different ways to play! Most of the reviews only discuss the two modes that it has (driving on the circle track, or magic track mode) BUT the way my son plays the MOST is letting it go on the carpet all over the place (without track).
The track is easy enough for him to put together by himself, and the train works well on the track on low carpet (like playroom/office carpet) or on hard floors/surfaces-- BUT it ALSO works GREAT on thick carpet as long as it is driving free-style (off the tracks).
The Magic Track mode works fine (again on hard floors/low carpet) if you have the space, meaning if you are in a tight space with furniture and walls, it will have to be turned around and set up too often- but our son doesn't use that mode hardly at all.
Don't hesitate in getting this if you have thick carpet:
We have thick carpeting throughout our whole house so our son learned very young (before he was 2) to set up the track in the kitchen, and it works perfectly. He also figured out (on his own) that it can drive anywhere on the carpet without the track.
He loves the track, but I think he just likes pulling the track out and putting it together more than watching the train go around in a circle- which is why he loves to build the track, let Mickey go round a few times, then he takes him off-roading! He also loves to put different little toys in the back of the caboose to "get a ride"!
I also love the sounds from this toy (it is not one that gets annoying after a million times) I still love hearing the cute sounds/music/Mickey's voice while he plays!
For a long time this was the toy he wanted to take to bed with him at night- super cute!
All-in-all I am so glad we got this, and I am unsure why so many have given this a negative review?
Oh, another plus is that this is a gender neutral toy, so when my infant daughter gets old enough, he will be able to pass it down to her.
I really think that there is so much to do with this toy- it helps children use their imaginations (which is hard to find in toys nowadays) and I HIGHLY recommend this.

my husband wanted to get this for our daughter for christmas, and it looked so cute and fun on the commercials. so we got it and when we opened it I was a bit surprised. I thought the MAGIC tract would be more than 2 pieces. It goes very quickly but my daughter liked it. It will not go around the tract on my carpet.. I have to put it on a hard floor which means the only place she can play with it in my house is in the kitchen, which isnt the safest place for her to play. I was just very dissapointed by how little you got for how much you spend.. My daughter likes it however so i am not sure if its something i would or wouldnt suggest to someone. I also dont like that there arent any other toys you can buy to go with it.. like more tract pieces or more train parts to connect.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Mickey Mouse's Magic Choo Choo Train Set:

I didn't realize this train only picked up and laid down two pieces of track, one at a time. I originally bought this toy thinking that all the track would be stored inside of the train and it would lay it down as needed, therefore preventing the inevitable toyroom clutter... uhm, I guess that was my bad for assuming. Anyway, it's a cute train and the songs are catchy. Had a really difficult time running it on carpet, but since then got a "playroom" carpet with a different type of weave and it runs better in classic mode; haven't seen it in magic mode. My 16 month old seems to like it for the most part, which I'm grateful for considering I think the price for this toy compared to the functionality of it is a bit steep. I would recommend this to someone if it were to go on sale.

This was THE item on our list this year and how disappointing to discover that it just doesn't run right. I don't know if we got a lemon or what, but it runs very poorly in the regular track mode and only marginally better in the track-laying mode. We've tried it on hardwood, tight carpet and plush carpet, nothing helps. Thank goodness it wasn't the only train we got this year.

Train runs great on track and on hard wood floor without track. Great music. My 22month son was so excited! He hasnt stopped playing with this toy. Literally just turn on and watch it go!

I too was worried about purchasing this train, but with such mixed reviews I decided to take the gamble. It is a christmas gift for my daughter, so instead of possibly disappointing her on christmas day, I opened the box up, popped in the batteries and viola! It works!! Sings, talks, makes sounds, does everything it's suppose to do. It appears buying this item is a gamble. I say go for it, buy it, try it. It was pretty easy carefully taking it out of the box. In fact after I set up the train, I put everything back in the box just as it was originally packaged. You can't even really tell that I opened it. I plan to put it under the tree for my daughter in the box and then we can set it up together on Christmas day. The only reason I'm giving the item 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the inconsistency in reviews, otherwise, it really is a 5. I know my daughter will love this!
