This is an awesome learning toy that can last until their school-age years!!! My almost 3 year old daughter LOVES playing the games like guess the letter & is really good at it too!! She plays with it everyday. I leave it in my diaper bag so she plays with it in resteraunts, the shopping cart,& in the car:) She's not even three yet, & she knows almost all of her letters. She can write a couple of letters all by herself thanks to the scribble & write :)

My wife and I liked the idea of having an interactive teaching method for writing letters and shapes. Our daughter, at 3, knows her alphabet and her shapes, but we wanted a tool to help with writing and drawing. This was perfect...until we started teaching her how to use it. For a 3 year old who is trying understand the concept of following the lines, the letters do not stay up on the screen long enough for her to grasp. I would probably clock the picture on the screen in at about 30 to 45 seconds. This is a learning tool. The letters/pictures should consistently be on the screen until the device shuts off or the mode changes. Just when I am getting into showing he the idea of following the lines, the picture shuts off. I have to then press the the letter on the keypad again, which initializes the whole process over again. It throws off rhythm to my teaching. The programmers should have given an unlimited time to each letter/picture. The time that is allotted is more suitable for a grade school child who already has the concept of writing letters, not for a beginner.

Comments about LeapFrog Scribble and Write:
I purchased two for my kids (4 & 2) since I figured it would be a good toy to keep in the car on longer drives. They instantly took a liking to it and quickly learned the appropriate ways to use it. I have already seem a tremendous improvement with my 4 year old son understanding how to actually write letters. I highly recommend this product to others.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Works great. Wish the lights stayed longer and pen cord was longer for my daughter who seems to favor left hand when writing. Would be cool it it has silent feature. I have already seen my daughter improve in th me form she uses when holding writing instruments!!

i was so excited to get this for my 3 year old son. Not only was he going to be able to trace the letters, but also follow the red lines to write the letters. I bought this item one morning, and gave it to him after lunch. He had a great time for about an hour. He moved on to something else after a little while, and when he came back to write more, it didn't work. He had left it on, so I was thinking new batteries might do the trick…no luck. He still does draw and write on the bottom section, but after many tries (and many other new batteries), the buttons do not work.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and both have used this and enjoyed it. It holds their attention for a few minutes at a time, more if I sit with them. It's a good supplement to paper and pencil.

I recently bought this for my 3 year old son to help him practice writing his letters. He loves it! It is very easy to use and is great for little ones starting to write. Would be great if you could incorporate shapes as well.

This product is really simple to use and does an excellent job teaching the basic writing skills. Our three year old loves it! My only complaints are that the cord is a bit too short and it is occasionally glitchy.

I bought this for my daughters 3rd birthday. She likes to play with it and so does her 6 year old sister. It has 2 levels of play making it a bit adjustable to a child's ability. It makes practicing letters and numbers fun.
